I'm good with them competing in Spring Training. If Romy earns it then so be it. Sosa looked like he could use more time in the minors. Maybe he will earn a quick call up early in the season.

Yeah are we sure they don't plan on platooning Romy and Leury, trying to salvage as much of that contract as possible?

Well yeah that’s different than what I am referring to. I’m saying they are relocated, team name changed, logo changed, colors changed to where there is no longer any roots to the team being here. Obviously I don’t think they will ever move in my lifetime though so moot thing to talk about.

Yeah I would be ok going with a platoon at 2B with Romy. Sosa being so young can open in AAA. If the platoon isn't working and Sosa is mashing, bring him up.

Considering who he signed with, watch the Sox end up trading for him at the deadline this year.

It's still only December so I guess there is time. It's pretty crazy how basically every top 50 free agent has signed already before the New Year. I wonder if that has ever happened (or at least when the last time that happened was).

Yeah that’s what I meant sorry. Looking at Spotrac, his salary was pro-rated but their luxury tax amount is still over.

With Bauer being reinstated for over half the season, they are currently just slightly over the luxury tax amount (including arbitration projections). I saw a rumor at one point this off-season that they may be looking to get under this year to reset the penalty and make a run at Ohtani next off-season.

He definitely won’t get the chance the great Nick Williams got.
