For this year, he might be part of a platoon at most.

Aaron Bummer extended 5 years/16M (plus two options)

Lol If 8 mill guaranteed for last 2 years is hurting them, this whole thing is doomed. -

One thing I've learned is no pitching contract is unmovable. If he sucks, hes cheap enough where a rebuilding team could gamble on him in a few years and see if they could turn him around and flip him. -

If Bummer becoming a bust and his cheap contract is hurting this team, something has gone completely wrong with this rebuild. -

Then you don't pick up his option? -
What does a bench player being able to play everywhere have to do with Adolfo or Rutherford?
-
Again, if Eloy or Mazara gets hurt for a significant amount of time and assuming no other injuries to the rest of the position players, who takes their spot on the roster? Just go sign Puig.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread

Playing time was probably a big factor as well for him. 3B is pretty wide open on that team. -
Feels like a troll job.

Considering theres a good amount of guys who have faked playing the OF over the years who looked worse, yes he looks like someone who can play it. edit: somehow bolded full thing typing on face (face palm).

Yeah I just read that someone else was granted an extra year and I was surprised (didn't know Micker was granted one either). Forgot what team though.
-
The time for that was last year honestly. If they didn't sign Edwin, he would at least be competing with Collins for DH/third catcher spot.
-
Didn't really seem to effect the Dodgers.

Basically an injury away in the corners to having to see Daniel Palka or Nick Delmonico on this roster. Thats enough of a reason for me. His numbers last year against lefties were good, although they were bad in 17 and 18. I'd gamble on it personally.

I agree. As long as he knows he'll be a mostly bench/platoon guy and hes cheap enough to where we can cut him if he isn't geling with everyone else and causing trouble, I'm ok with it. I mean, look how much they wasted last year on Jay and Alonso.

Literally to get dfa'd after a few weeks/month.

I figured he would end up on an NL team. -

Makes sense. He could see a lot of playing time there. Also, since I'm in the middle of a re-watch....BROCK HOLT! -
Most Memorable Sox Game You've Attended?
Bob Sacamano replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
3 home runs in a row off now Hall of Famer Randy Johnson in 05 was pretty bad ass. -
I don't think Bryant gets traded until around mid-season. Team needs a leadoff hitter (saw the 2019 stats yesterday...ugly), another SP (maybe 2), and I believe they lost 6 relievers from last year. They didn't really make any major additions. Compared to the rest of the division, they have to be the 4th best team right? 3rd at best? Although, every team seems flawed in some way.

I love this because personally, I would rather release some of the older prospects and minor league fodder (Ross Detwiler, Andrew Romine and Cheslor Cuthbert come to mind) in favor of adding younger more interesting prospects to the system for franchise play.

New MLB 2020 Rules (Effective March 12th)
Bob Sacamano replied to joejoesox's topic in The Diamond Club
Guys on non-contenders who are going to be free agents that offseason and fringy MLB guys on current roster will probably be dfa'd/released August 31st. -
That and with the game coming out mid-March, between then and Spring training (earlier since roster cutoff will probably be early Feb), trades happen and guys get claimed on waivers and released.

Would be awesome to see Bauer face them but I'm pretty sure AL West is facing NL East (haven't checked).
