26th Man Discussion
Assuming Leury opens at 2B and Mendick is the backup IF, probably Romine or Cuthbert. Someone who gets dfa'd when Madrigal is ready.

Sox in Discussions for Moncada Extension per Y2Jimmy
I've been saying that if they're going to spend some serious money, it will be on their own. I think I said that a few times in the Betts thread.

I was going to post this. Thanks for saving me time.

I remember reading that some agents agree with this. For what they were willing to pay, they should have gotten at least one more free agent year out of the deal. Obviously it would be more than $88 mill at that point though.

He's a free agent after the 2023 season. As mapped above, the 24-27 seasons (all guaranteed before the opt-out) makes it 4 FA years.

Sox add 2021 option on Leury’s deal
Guarantee with those guys it comes down to playing time. They're not signing somewhere to ride the bench when a top prospect comes up. With Holt, he should get a ton of playing time in that wide open infield left side of the infield. It is kind of surprising that Gennett hasn't signed anywhere though. At the end of the day, I'm not upset they guaranteed an additional $250k.

Its been announced for over a year.

Predict the OD Lineup
I think theres an argument to keep him down though. It's not like he has a Kris Bryant year in the minors the year before his ETA.

Also re-aired at 7 on the same channel. Since results don't really matter, watch then. Also re-aired on MLBN later.

I did wonder who we would see at SS more out of Mendick or Garcia. Second game Mendick will be at SS.

For this year, he might be part of a platoon at most.

Aaron Bummer extended 5 years/16M (plus two options)
Lol If 8 mill guaranteed for last 2 years is hurting them, this whole thing is doomed.

Aaron Bummer extended 5 years/16M (plus two options)
One thing I've learned is no pitching contract is unmovable. If he sucks, hes cheap enough where a rebuilding team could gamble on him in a few years and see if they could turn him around and flip him.

Aaron Bummer extended 5 years/16M (plus two options)
If Bummer becoming a bust and his cheap contract is hurting this team, something has gone completely wrong with this rebuild.

Then you don't pick up his option?

Sox add 2021 option on Leury’s deal
What does a bench player being able to play everywhere have to do with Adolfo or Rutherford?

KW says "no Puig"
Again, if Eloy or Mazara gets hurt for a significant amount of time and assuming no other injuries to the rest of the position players, who takes their spot on the roster? Just go sign Puig.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
Playing time was probably a big factor as well for him. 3B is pretty wide open on that team.

White Sox Spring Training Thread
Considering theres a good amount of guys who have faked playing the OF over the years who looked worse, yes he looks like someone who can play it. edit: somehow bolded full thing typing on face (face palm).

Yeah I just read that someone else was granted an extra year and I was surprised (didn't know Micker was granted one either). Forgot what team though.

FS: What's Driving Mercedes' Power?
The time for that was last year honestly. If they didn't sign Edwin, he would at least be competing with Collins for DH/third catcher spot.
