Brewers Acquire Christian Yelich & sign Lorenzo Cain
Bob Sacamano replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 07:03 PM) The Sox wouldn't consider paying that high of a price, but with the highly strained relationship btw Yelich and management we might be able to get him at a discounted price. If the Sox could manage that I think it would be worth their while to get him. If there was no interest from other teams, sure. -
2017-2018 MLB player movement rumors and reports

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 05:02 PM) Cubs fans want Sosa back? That’s news to me. My friends who are die-hard fans do not. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 02:46 PM) That would make sense. Basically Disney is going to want to get away from all of the big contracts, so you pretty much have to phase out Iron Man, etc. If it was me, I would just let the current path come to an end. Then I would reboot X-Men, with maybe a few crossovers. I just think that many characters become too cumbersome. I agree. Plus the X-Men movies have really become a mess. All the actors that play the characters in the present are becoming too old to suddenly join the universes and all the recent movies (including one coming out soon) all take place in the past with younger actors. Let it run it's course.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 02:28 PM) If Holland appears in Venom then the exact opposite will happen. Venom is far too big in Spider-Man’s story to be tucked away in its own corner untouched by everything else. If they venture into Carnage it will be even bigger I don't think I really explained what I meant that well. I mean that the greater MCU and the SONY Spider-verse won't really connect too much but that doesn't mean Venom isn't a big part of the Spider-verse going forward. However, it will still be "shared" with the rest of the MCU to an extent.

How do you guys think that the MCU should handle the X-Men? I think they should obviously reboot it, but already have them as being a part of the universe. They've just been laying low learning and training with their powers up until when they eventually appear in a movie.

QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) What would be interesting is what would happen to the current X-verse I imagine Deadpool and Legion would be safe, but everything else would be on the chopping block. Yeah they pretty much need to reboot the X-Men series (which sucks since they have still movies being released). Deadpool is pretty much the one character you can rip out of one universe and add into the other since his character breaks the 4th wall anyway.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 02:07 PM) nothing confirmed, but Collider reporting the rumor that Tom Holland will appear in a cameo for the Venom movie. pretty significant shared universe news if true I said this on here before. It's connected but at the same time not. Like the Spidey universe will have its own corner which doesn't reference the events in the rest of the MCU. It'll have it's own corner in the universe like The Defenders and Agents of Shield.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 01:03 PM) And Bumgarner being a bonehead on a motorcycle...or ATV or whatever it was. They're old...but I agree that it honestly wouldn't surprise me to see them being good this year...but they're a few pitchers away from being that good. That's a very tough division tho. Personally they'd be better served to clean house and rebuild... Yeah definitely closer to a rebuild than going on a run of world series titles. But as someone pointed out a page or two ago, this core has earned a last chance to go for it.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2018 -> 09:50 AM) Co-sign. The theaters are also letting me use my rewards card so I am getting points and free stuff like drinks and popcorn without spending anything outside the $10 a month. I keep waiting for them to be like, No more rewards if you use MoviePass. The movie theaters aren't losing money. My buddy said the CEO was on some talk show recently talking about it. He's trying to get sponsorship. Everytime someone uses Moviepass, he loses money. Also, you didn't pay for the $90 annual use when the deal was out there, coming out to like $7.50?

Could honestly see the Giants being good this year. Lot of guys with down seasons last year. They should probably sign whoever the best defensive CF is to help prevent runs and move McCutchen to RF.

QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Jan 13, 2018 -> 09:14 PM) I don't understand why they didn't just hold onto him. Hard to see them getting a worse offer at the deadline. Only real upside to this deal is it f Boras over badly Astros actually had money to spend but they are basically saying we'd rather swing a trade then do an Arrietta deal. Hold onto him only for Cole to get hurt yet again? -

What were the Pirates to do, hold onto him and have him get hurt again? -
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jan 13, 2018 -> 12:27 PM) Go with Shields to build up his trade resume. Naming him the opening day starter might help make a team or two still think he has value. Any GM that thinks being named "Opening Day starter" increases his value should be fired.

Jose Abreu settles with Sox for $13 million
Bob Sacamano replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Scoots @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 01:34 PM) Maybe there is an extension in the works... Also I don't think Jose really cares much about projected contracts, considering where he's coming from. The projected contracts are based off of what similar players have done and got paid. Why wouldn't he and his agent care? -
I had another post in this thread going off the basis we opened at home...forgot we are on the road. Brain fart. Assuming no one is skipped the first time through the order, the #2 starter pitches home opener.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 06:47 PM) Whenever this thread ends, I predict the last post will be from Kagaku saying, "My Wife left me." QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 01:06 PM) And his winnings will be cut in half. LMAO
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 02:06 PM) And yet the Red Sox couldn't find power for their lives last year, re-signed Moreland who was a part of that, and who behind Martinez would provide it? I actually like the Moreland signing for them. Way better value than signing Hosmer. But yeah, not really a power guy.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 02:04 PM) I mean most of the AA guys are gonna move up right? Kopech, Stephens Guerrero Adams. Then you have danish possibly or some minor league fa And possibly Covey. Is Danish mostly viewed as a reliever right now?
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 02:01 PM) Greg, parking is $20. Only $10 on Sundays though. Also, for the price of beer, isn't it about $12 for a 22oz beer? That doesn't seem TOO bad to me honestly. That's almost 2 cans/bottles.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 01:59 PM) Who else is likely bound for the rotation at Charlotte other than Kopech? Not really sure but also a good point. Charlotte probably also need starters.
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 01:57 PM) And you wonder why people think you're a troll. Stop trolling, and maybe people will stop calling you a troll. And FYI his peripherals aren't very good, which is why he's a 5th starter on a one year 4.5 million dollar deal. Best case the Sox flip him for a lotto ticket in July. Yep...just as they did in 2017.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 01:40 PM) Why? Rodon and Kopech figure to be in the plans too. That's 7 total starters. After this signing, we have enough depth Doesn't hurt to bring in a veteran on a minor league deal to compete with Fulmer for a spot.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 01:46 PM) Hack it. My buddy put 200 more games on his. I can find instructions if you need them I don't own it...yet. Can you send them to me? I'd appreciate it.
