Your 2018 Chicago White Sox Opening Day Lineup
Bob Sacamano replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) CF - L. Garcia 2B - Moncada 1B - Abreu RF - A. Garcia DH - Delmonico 3B - Davidson LF - Cordell C - Iannetta SS - Anderson BE - Narvaez, Sanchez, Engel, Hanson/ W. Garcia SP - Rodon, Shields, Giolito, Lopez, Free Agent to flip when Kopech comes up RP - Jones, McGee, Putnam, Petricka, Minaya, Infante, Bummer I would try signing Jake McGee to a 3 year contract since the Sox dont have a shutdown lefty in the pen and see if they can get Iannetta for one season. He's currently 12th in framing, been solid defensively, has a .343 wOBA, and could bring a veteran presence for the young guys to work with. Ideally the FA SP they get would be a lefty, but I'd just look for someone you could flip at the deadline once Kopech is ready. The bench allows for a lot of versatility in the lineup with Narvaez and Sanchez hitting lefty. Putnam is already going to miss most (if not all) of next season. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) Affleck will not be Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves "The Batman". And furthermore, that movie will be standalone and not connected to the DCEU QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 08:11 AM) Bad move. Agreed.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 08:16 AM) At this point, I don't see the value of moving him. There's not enough to warrant any good team having interest. Maybe on the 31st since that's when a lot of August deals happen due to rosters expanding next day. Move him for whatever and re-sign him to hold down the 5th spot next year.
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) Tilson should be in the mix as well. I think Cordell ends up the super utility guy as he has played pretty much every position outside of the battery. I'm not adding Tilson into the mix until he is healthy to be honest.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) They need to really see if they can turn Demonico into a LF if they think his bat is for real. He needs to be playing in the field regularly while the games don't matter to know if he can when they do. Yeah that's fine too. Hopefully Cordell is healthy for OF at bats next year as well. I think I've seen enough of Engel (small sample size but minor league numbers are meh).
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) Can Davidson play 3B well enough to allow Delmonico to DH? Or can Delmonico play LF well enough to allow Davidson to DH? Might as well play Davidson at 3B and let Delmonico get a bulk of DH at bats while seeing some time at LF and 1B.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) You really can't imagine someone caring? That's a lie. This was no doubt going to be seized on as an opportunity to laugh at how clueless ESPN is. Especially with all the dumb sh*t going on in the news with the statues.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) Yah, otherwise Hanson is probably the odd man out. Which I am OK with, he kind of sucks. I don't see him making the team next year and he is out of options. Yeah pretty good bait to cut if 40-man space is need in off-season.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
Bob Sacamano replied to Superstar Lamar's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Pitching well through 4 games with the Astros so far. Wouldn't mind bringing him back on a 1-year deal (maybe 2 years since he's not that old yet and maybe could do better than one) as we need bullpen arms anyway. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) Giolitto better look awesome tonight, or he's a bust as well. Did you see what he did last year? Moncada, Fulmer, Collins....confirmed busts Lopez, huge questions. ERA over 6.00 and hurt.....most likely bust Giolitto, big game tonight will determine his status....very well could be a bust. For people who wanted full rebuilds, the patience is amazingly short. This. Thankfully, it's only a few people.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) Relevant Zach @Zachary_Canny @jimcallisMLB @JonathanMayo Albies, Devers, Moncada, Rosario, who would you rather have for the next decade. Jim CallisVerified account @jimcallisMLB 24m24 minutes ago Can I have Vladimir Guerrero Jr. instead? In terms of offensive impact, I'd rank those guys: Moncada, Devers, Rosario, Albies. Like them all Dude will probably end up in the OF or 1B anyway. I think this was more for 2B, SS, and 3B positions.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) Not a bad idea. McMahon is ranked #63 on mlb pipeline. Cease is ranked #65, I'd make that swap but I doubt the Rockies would. McMahon has had a good season so I'd guess his value is a bit higher than that #63 rank. Exactly. Like what would he have to trade for him exactly? I bet he's there 1B next year or in a COF spot.

Any update here?

8/21/2017 Twins @ White Sox
Bob Sacamano replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2017 Season in Review
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 07:03 AM) I think every player is different. Delmonico is hitting better in the majors than he did in AAA. I do think starting pitchers need some time in AAA. But we are seeing positional players jumping from AA to majors and having success. Think the ball is tighter in the majors. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) Benintendi would look even better (which is who the Sox wanted initially). Agreed but he wasn't an option for them. -

Ian Happ would look good in our system/in our lineup right now. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) No reason to pitch Holland again Unless it's to blow games. #becauseitsthetank -
Could he just slide to 1B for the Rockies after this year?
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 07:11 PM) Just remembered the Sox host the Giants in September. Start Volstad, Danish, and Beck. Shields and Holland will be perfect.
-
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 08:28 PM) Brantley not on the 40-man. Don't expect him to come up. What's the point? I think Liriano has a chance. They need to make a decision on keeping him. Just named IL player of the week. I expect Covey, Giolito, Liriano and maybe Danish or Fulmer. They'll call up a third catcher. Every team does. They have room on the 40-man and will just release him after season.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) This all reminds me, did we ever get that PTBNL for Bourjos? Oh yeah....I don't know. -

So the original trade overall is Robertson, Kahnle, Frazier for Rutherford, Clarkin, Polo and PTBNL. -

Probably looking at an 18/19 year old A-baller or mid-20s guy with command issues they think they can fix. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 07:41 AM) The White Sox would have the first claim. I acknowledged that. Just wondered what the turn around time on that is for an official announcement. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 07:01 AM) Does anyone have a link to this Kemp rumor? Would be a pretty nice get for Clippard. EDIT: Never mind, I see it was just speculation. Hopefully our scouts can find a previous LatAm signing that they like that could be available.
