  1. A question that was asked earlier is still relevant and hasn't been answered by you. In your eyes, when is it fair to say "This is the team Chris Getz assembled?" I'm actually asking...
  2. I mean, this is kind of a bad way to frame it. This is a layered topic, they could have gone a few different ways with Crochet. I was in the camp that they should have locked him up given his age, but that was never going to happen with Jerry. If I put myself in the shoes of Getz, knowing the team needed to reset and the limited assets in the org, Crochet didn’t serve much purpose on this team in 2025 and 2026. The package seemed fair but obviously it will take years to determine if they got quality out of it. But in a perfect world, given where this team is at, if they can get 2 quality starting caliber MLB players out of Crochet, it made some sense.
  3. That's incredibly awful
  4. Season saved
  5. You're correct, and totally forgot about him because of the lack luster package that was received. Good call
  6. There are multiple things that can be true at the same time - When Getz was given the job, it became clear this was going to be a full tear down. They did the same thing in 2016 offseason, where they went from 78 wins to 67. Then they fell to 62 wins in 2018. While winning 41 games and setting records in 2024 should have never happened and was embarrassing, I agree with the idea the difference between winning 55 games or 65 games doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, it's still shitty baseball. - It's hard for people to get over that it's Chris Getz running things, and I understand why, I'm one of them. The last regime was here far too long, and had very little success outside of one magical season, and Getz had a key role in this organization for a good chunk of that. He should not have been rewarded for those "efforts" with a promotion, but here we are. It's absolutely fair to have doubts, he has done NOTHING to earn anyones trust or respect. - He was tasked with a very difficult job, as the organization needed a full enema and he was working with very few assets. The 2016 rebuild was a very different situation. There were some attractive and valuable pieces on the roster, they couldn't figure out (or didn't have the right resources) to surround their stars with talent. You fast forward to 2020/2021, from the trades of 2016 they acquired Moncada, Eloy, Giolito, Cease and Kopech. Add in the Cuban Pipeline with Abreu and Robert, FINALLY drafting a hitter that has MLB success in Anderson, and you created a core. It obviously didn't work, but the formula still makes sense today. Getz had Crochet/Fedde/Robert to work with. The Crochet deal seems "good" right now, time will tell. The Fedde deal was awful, it was awful then and it's still awful now. And he seemingly missed the timing on trading Robert, who knows what that eventually nets them. So he doesn't have the same runway that Hahn had, and some of that is on Getz. - I think it's a fair assumption to make that if Getz had it his way, he would have spent more on areas of the team for 2025, so they aren't flirting with 41 wins again in 2025. We know who the owner is, he knew they were going to be REALLY bad again, why spend another 25-30 million on the team when it takes the Sox from 48 wins to 58 wins? Why spend that? All of this is to say something most (if not all) of us already know. Nothing changes until Jerry is gone. They won't outspend teams in free agency. They won't outspend anyone in player development. They won't be cutting edge on new philosophies and strategy. They won't draft exceptionally well (when have they EVER?) So what does that leave you? An incredibly mediocre franchise, which is exactly what they have been under the ownership of Jerry Reinsdorf. It's really not any more complicated or nuanced than that.
  7. Adolescence is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Incredible all around.
  8. This is objectively not true. Colson Montgomery has gotten off to an awful start, with a .074/.167/.185 slash line.
  9. If you listen to some here, Getz has completely reshaped the organization and has done a great job of changing things… Seriously. 😂
  10. Being John Schriffen’s assistant isn’t the brag you think it is.
  11. Well said.
  12. We get it, you really like John Schriffen
  13. This guy continues to just be an absolute douche. Don’t know why he always tries to step in s%*#..
  14. I think any interesting baseball played by the Sox is going to happen in August and September, when there are much more intriguing players on the roster. I personally have zero interest in the game today, or anything really related to the 26 man roster as currently constructed. Just nothing to get excited about, or make me feel like I'm watching a single player that is going to make an impact with the Sox in 3-4 years.
  15. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/insider/story/_/id/44392562/mock-2025-nfl-draft-seven-rounds-257-picks-matt-miller This 7 round mock doesn't have the Bears taking a single OL. That....better not be the case come Draft Weekend.
  16. Guy has always been a prick. Also, clearly an idiot. Good riddance.
  17. You gotta give credit to Soxtalk, we'll find a way to argue about ANYTHING 😂
  18. I'm not really connecting Hunt and Homer like the tweet suggests, I think that's a little off. However, Hunt didn't play a single snap on ST last year, so if the Bears were interested in him, it was to add to the RB room. And I have a hard time thinking they roll with Jeanty/Swift/Hunt, that seems like overkill. (Not to mention Roschon is still on the roster, but I don't know if he's in the future plans for the Bears)
  19. I don’t know if we read anything into this, but Swift isn’t getting cut. If they were in on Hunt, and say they get a deal done, you using No. 10 on Jeanty and having all three on the roster? This may tell us the direction they are heading with RB
  20. I'm not either, I'm incredibly checked out of White Sox baseball, just crazy that Sean Burke is an Opening Day starter for a team in 2025. I hope he's great, but just wild.
  21. I would hope Poles would agree with this as well.
  22. I said this a few weeks ago, but they need to find out, and most likely will, if Caleb is the guy. He had a good but flawed rookie season. Some of that was on Caleb, some of it was on the situation. The offensive line situation was a mess, and Caleb exacerbated it. They also had a coaching staff that voted worst in the league and there were public criticisms about a lack of preparation from the staff. Coaching hopefully will not be an issue moving forward. They also have significantly upgraded the offensive line, as you noted. Caleb should have the tools and infrastructure to be successful. If he isn't, and stays healthy for a majority of the season, we should find out if this is the guy for the Bears or not. And if he isn't....then this offseason was meaningless, as will the next couple of offseasons. But if he IS the guy, it's not even about 2025 W-L's. You had three teams in your division win double digit games. That won't last forever, but if you found your QB for the next decade, then it's a W.
  23. 1. They needed a bunch of things. 2. If the Bengals want a 1st and 2nd for Hendrickson, should he have done it? You seem to not agree with trading draft picks. They called on Garret, and the Browns decided to pay him. And there is a reason Hendrickson hasn’t moved yet. You want to lay out a specific road map for how they should have approached the offseason, different than what they did…I’m all ears. But if you’re going to complain about moves then state “I’m mad but also don’t know what I’m talking about because I made the choice to be uneducated on the topic I’m talking about” then you open yourself up to be called a fool.
