  1. If you listened to what Jerry and Getz said about the “core,” thinking major pieces are going to be traded is a mistake. I don’t care that Rick and Kenny are gone. We know how this is going to play out. Instead of banking on actually infusing talent, they’ll fall back on subjective intangibles like “leadership” helping turn this around. Enter Sally Perez and others. They’ll patch holes with 2nd rate free agents, and rely on Moncada, Anderson, Eloy, Vaughn, and others to “bounce back” because of how much they believe in this “core” If they’re lucky, they’ll be around .500 and it will be considered a win.

I don't want to split hairs, but I think Jerry means evaluate the entire organization, get to know who is who, who does what, what else needs to be staffed, etc. That would take some time, but I have no idea why would you want to rush this. Well, I have some idea, I guess I just don't agree with it.

And here I had someone inside and very very competitive and might have been the guy if I had talked to these other guys, so I the thought was if I got a guy on the inside that can do the job, why not do it inside and save a year.”

  9. Simply put, all bias aside, Getz is not ready or prepared for this press conference
  10. What's really sad is if you're going to bring on an internal person, they can at least speak to specifics. He's not doing any of that, it's all Hahn-speak. I don't understand how they don't "get this" A press conference by nature is for the press to have access to important people, and disseminate the message to the fan base. So you're talking to your customers here. Why do they believe these type of prepared answers are going to sell anyone on any of this?
  11. Jerry not wanting to "waste" a year is going to look hilarious in September 1, 2024 when they are eyeing another 100 loss season.
  12. Jerry confirms he "knew" everyone on his "outside" list, but it would take a year for them to "learn the organization" and Jerry doesn't want to waste a year, so he went with Chris. Got it.

  14. My point has always been, does he even know what roles you would need to hire, let alone the individuals to do them? That's why you talk to executives from other organizations. Not just do things the "White Sox way" I'm just banging my head against the wall at this point, total waste of time for all of us
  15. Not trying to nitpik....but that's also not true. Yes, the Sox did fire two people that would be considered "inept" in their leadership skills. But the ringleader is still here, obviously. So I'm really not sure what changes with Kenny and Rick gone, but "their guy" taking their place, you know? Again, all we can do is wait and see (literally that's the only thing fans can do) but there is no reason at this point to be optimistic, aside from blind faith.

  17. If you're Jerry...why put in that work? He's 87. He can make money on a team that loses 100 games. Certainly not as much money as if his team won 100 games, but that would clearly require a lot of time and energy to get the organization in a better place. What's the point? He's lazy.
  18. Of course. Chris Getz is his own man, but he spent two seasons as an assistant with the Royals, and most of his executive career with the Sox, reporting to Rick and Kenny. He's been tainted. In any role, you learn from your superiors, those that have come before you, they guide you and try and make you a better employee for not only the role you're in, but the role you want to get. And that guidance has been coming from two guys the same organization decided should no longer be here. It literally makes no sense.
  19. I have zero evidence of this, but I think it's very likely the last task Jerry asked of Rick and Kenny was to give them their endorsement of who should be the next GM. And it stands to reason they would say Getz, and what do you know...
  20. Don't want to speak for all Sox fans, but I believe most are on the same page...this isn't really about Chris Getz the person. Yes, his role as Director of the Minor Leagues has not gone well, but quite frankly I don't think many of us actually know what goes into the day to day of that job, and I also believe the way the entire organization is set up puts all players behind the 8Ball so to speak. This isn't about Chris Getz the man, it's about the process and the person in his role getting this title, without a search to boot.

  22. Right, I assume there will be questions, but I doubt there are any tough ones asked. Although I don't really know what other questions there are at this point? Also, it doesn't really matter at this point. The tough questions make for good talking points for a day. With the way Jerry keeps people, let's all be honest...the odds HEAVILY favor this is the last GM he'll have. So people are pissed about it...what's it going to change?

  24. Going to ask the very obvious here. Obviously something is very wrong with the organization. They had two winning seasons in 2020 and 2021, but 2022 was a let down and 2023 was a complete bottoming out, they are one of the worst teams in the league. The minor league system is bad, which is nothing new for the Sox, key players are continuing to get hurt/not being able to stay on the field, basically since Herm left, the analytics department is woefully understaffed, and the list goes on. Even if Jerry gave Getz 100 million to fix those problems (not counting player payroll)...how does Chris Getz know what to fix? Since his arrival in 2016, he reported to Rick and Kenny. They were just fired due to poor performance. How does Getz know what sort of infrastructure is needed in an ML organization to be successful? It's one of the many reasons why not even having an interview process for this job is so insanely stupid.
