I’m convinced you didn’t watch this team last year. Hendriks and Kopech were the only relievers TLR could trust for a long time before the Kimbrel trade was made. Trading for Kimbrel specifically obviously looks like a bad move in hindsight, but the Sox absolutely needed another reliever of some kind at the deadline.

I am now very optimistic given your prediction history.

Looks like neither team will win that trade. The Cubs will probably get the better end of it solely because they have Madrigal and Heuer under team control for a few more years, but both of those guys have significant injury concerns moving forward.

I wouldn’t complain because his bat is so good, but this would essentially be adding another guy who should be a DH to a team that already has way too guys who should be DH’s.

Absolutely not. The A’s would probably get a combination of prospects from the Sox and Mets in this scenario, but no one on Vaughn’s level.

Something along the lines of the Sox getting McNeil, the Mets getting Bassitt, and the A’s getting prospects seems to make sense for all 3 teams.

Wonder what if any impact that contract will have as far as trading Kimbrel is concerned.

I’m not the biggest Leury fan in the world but this is misleading. He was atrocious in the first couple years of his career but has improved substantially since then.
