  1. Didn't the Bears purchase the land in Arlington Heights already? What the hell was the point of doing that if they aren't committing to building their stadium on it? Unless they are thinking of utilizing the land for something else to make a profit...or was that just wasted money on the part of the Bears. Make it make sense.

I mean honestly, has anyone in management looked at his defensive numbers over the last 2 years? If he can even remotely hit the ball, then it MIGHT make sense, because this roster will need all the offensive help it can get, but if his bat flounders there is no need to keep him on the roster.
  3. The crazy, not-so-surprising thing is, so many people predicted this would happen. Like, it was comical at first, then slowly, it became a sad reality.
  4. PRINT IT
  5. It's always such a shame to see a guy with so much potential get his career derailed because he couldn't stay healthy. Too many stories like that in sports. Of course there was always the speculation that Rodon didn't really do enough to condition his body properly in the offseason, but sometimes you just can't control how your body chooses to react to stressful things, no matter how much you try to prepare it.
  6. I...am very much looking forward to seeing Yamamoto pitch and Ohtani hit lol.
  7. In that division, they'll finish last and I don't think it will be remotely close.
  8. Certainly doesn't help his case with the fact that his predecessors were Jose Abreu, Paul Konerko, and Frank Thomas for basically 3 consecutive decades. All southside legends and one 1st ballot hof'er.
  9. Personally I would love it to be the big ass guaranteed rate red arrow pointing down, and then next to it, the faces of Hahn, Kenny, JR, TLR, and Pedro. JR must be front and center though. Like how they usually put the superstars in the middle. Credit where credit is due.
  10. He is such a schmuck. There can't be anyone in that clubhouse taking this clown seriously.
  11. Last season, I checked out after May. This season I may very well check out after April. How depressing.
  12. I didn't go to one game last year purely because of the product on the field. If they were a winning club I would probably go to 4-6 games per year. This year I only plan on going to one game, and it's only because I want to celebrate my 30th birthday seeing a ballgame. Actually, I will be seeing the Cubs play in the afternoon against the Braves and the Sox play in the evening against the O's on the same day. I'm more excited to see the visiting teams than I am the Chicago teams lol. And then I might go see a game when the Dodgers are in town, because, well, the Dodgers, but that's all I plan on doing this year in terms of seeing Sox games.
  13. Sox will be last in spring training and regular season standings. I know I know, what a bold prediction.
  14. Honestly, this is what got my wife to like to Sox. She liked the fun-loving, good naturedness, humorous side of the players. She could care less about winning lol.

I think Stony just said Kane is playing for the Rangers. Doesn't he play for Detroit?

Nice seeing Mendick back in a Sox uniform, even if that was a terrible at bat.
  17. While Jerry's strength is certainly not getting the public on his side...I honestly don't think it matters what the fans think. It doesn't matter what taxpayers think. All he has to do is convince the politicians (who are wealthy just like he is). Jerry's got connections and influence. And a lot of money. In the end, it doesn't matter what we think. He'll get what he wants. One way or another. EDIT: it SHOULD be ultimately up to the people, though. I don't understand why this plan isn't put on some kind of ballot to be voted on by the citizens.
  18. I decided to start listening to podcasts and I will probably pick up a few books. Getting educated. Have learned quite a bit. Thanks for your advice!
  19. This is the part I don't understand why people are so upset. I guess I can understand the anger over leaving Bridgeport...for those who live in the Bridgeport or surrounding areas (cough Laurence Holmes)...but I thought Jerry was saying this should not cost the residents any money, and it will all be paid for through that hotel tax and other means that don't come out of the pockets of the citizens of Illinois.
  20. It would be a completely different story if the organization had a regular winning product on the field. Guarantee it. The vitriol is coming from a residual feeling of being fucked over from the promises of the rebuild. If this team were actually still in it's contention window, and actually winning, I bet this news would be welcomed with open arms.
  21. As others have mentioned, JR is bad at alot of things but business isn't one of them. I'm sure he is aware of the state's hesitancy to pay for the stadium and has some other stipulation to sweeten the deal.
  22. It definitely has been quite the fall from grace for those BoSox.
