I never thought of the Hahn/Hoyer trade in those terms but now that you mention Turner as having been a possible alternative out there, I am steaming mad to think about it. Trea Turner would have been a game changer. Sox should have Drafted Turner, as I wanted them to do.

Eloy has been taking pitches well since he has returned from the DL. Tonight he was first pitch fastball hunting probably based on a scouting report. Whatever the Sox were expecting, from Mills, it did not work out well...for several guys. Six of nine guys in our line-up had no hits. including TA, Grandal, Goodwin, Vaughn and Zavala So don't single out Eloy the Cub Killer. He will be back to punish the Cubs. and Cub fans..maybe in a few hours from now. Eloy had two very good plays in the outfield including a ball hit to left center that some left fielders would not have tracked down. As Benetti stated after that catch, Eloy is among the faster outfielders in the league and he showed it on that play. Tomorrow Cease needs to pitch Wisdom a bit differently than he has been pitched in the last two games. Respect his power and pitch inside away from his barrel. If he walks OK but I don't think he will. I think he is probably a little swing happy now, maybe like the Sox were tonight. or maybe Wisdom gets hit unintentionally and the Cubs start a fight. That might not be the worst thing, provided it is a typical baseball fight where no punches get thrown. It might also give the Sox and Cub fans at the game something interesting to do.

Still three down but it feels a lot better than 6 down.

ReyLo just has to throw hard and throw strikes. Get this thing over with one way or another.

What is Vaughn like 23 years old. He's not going to get any faster. I thought he profiled like Carlos Quentin in terms of his upside but maybe not.

Left fielder could have gunned him down.

This board has been more critical of ReyLo over the past 3 years than any other pitcher. Now he is the least bad of the alternatives. Fvk Keuchel. send him back to Houston,...which is where he wants to be. His head isn't into it here, and its obvious.

Sox fans won't forget this start by Keuchel. He doesn't even look like he is in to it.

Or a loss today and 2/3 losses to the Cubs erodes confidence. I don't like cruise control..almost never use it on my Porsche. Drive hard into the playoffs with momentum. That is what the Yankees are trying to do.

Vaughn has improved vs RH starters but there might be a better alternative.

White Sox playoff position tracker
Yankees on an 11 game winning streak fortified with LH power and an improved bullpen. I think the road to to the AL pennant will have to go through NY.

Complain about Kimbrel here:
Maybe Kopech could be a Closer. That actually could suit his pitching style and his arm strength.

Vaughn's Struggles with RISP and 2 Outs
Every RH hitter has trouble hitting well placed outside sliders/sinkers/curveballs from top RH pitchers. Vaughn will make the adjustments necessary because he is and has been a great hitter. The thing is, we need him to do that in short order like we need other guys like Moncada to start clicking before the playoffs. All cylinders need to be firing in order to beat the Yankees, Tampa Bay etc. It is a lot of pressure for a rookie but what a great ride this will be for Vaughn if the Sox win the whole damn thing.

GT 8/22: SOX @ TB, 12:10
I preferred trading for middle to late inning relief pitchers rather than giving up Madrigal and Cody Heuer for a second Closer with a bad attitude. One poster here posited that the Kimbrel trade virtually guaranteed a WS this year and next. If that happens I will eat crow with a big smile, but I doubt I will have to. So now Hahn has his two-headed Closing monster. Meanwhile the rest of the Sox pen does not appear to be play-off ready...not even close. Hard to win games unless we score a ton of runs or our starter goes 6 or 7 innings. Ruiz? LOL.

Is Vaughn turning into a legit ROY candidate?
He has to change his approach with two strikes and maybe even with one strike. Maybe take a few more pitches and coax a walk or get into a more favorable count to get a fast ball. He has power to Right Center so maybe he should look to drive it that way .

Vaughn's Struggles with RISP and 2 Outs
chw42: That is how a mlb scout makes his money and here you do it for free. It's up to Vaughn now to counter the scouting reports by looking for those sliders and taking them to RF.
