The memo BuzzFeed posted is legit, and it's what intelligence sources presented to Trump's team recently. What's unverified are the specific claims of the British and other intelligence sources, at least unclassified/publicly.

e: how? how does this election/Presidency get even more absurd?

But emails.

There have been kompromat rumors floating around, but that report seems more concrete than anything else I've seen. Trump spent time in Russia and has lots of business dealings there.

I mean, if those allegations are true, his campaign was colluding with foreign agents and Russia has very serious information on Trump they can use to blackmail him. That's pretty serious.

I'm not sure if this will get enough focus in the shower of details, but this nugget from the CNN article seems important.

Some of the memos were circulating as far back as last summer. What has changed since then is that US intelligence agencies have now checked out the former British intelligence operative and his vast network throughout Europe and find him and his sources to be credible enough to include some of the information in the presentations to the President and President-elect a few days ago.

Guardian article

The Guardian has learned that the FBI applied for a warrant from the foreign intelligence surveillance (Fisa) court over the summer in order to monitor four members of the Trump team suspected of irregular contacts with Russian officials. The Fisa court turned down the application asking FBI counter-intelligence investigators to narrow its focus. According to one report, the FBI was finally granted a warrant in October, but that has not been confirmed, and it is not clear whether any warrant led to a full investigation.
The FISA court rejects something like 0.01% of surveillance applications, so that's a really interesting detail as well.

Is the media seriously running with the golden showers troll? These were made in 4chan last July. Did they run with the ones where he dresses as a Japanese girl too? Buzzfeed got duped.

lol you voted for trump and you're going to accuse anyone else of being duped, just lol

I saw their statement, but publishing a dossier like that and admitting you can't verify is dangerous. There is certainly some false stuff in there (conservatively) and if so that will be used to discredit all info in future.

It's the dossier the intelligence community has already presented to Trump, a man who spent years as the leader of the idiot birther brigade.

Either way, this is another win for Russia, though. Not even in office yet, and Trump's legitimacy is deeply suspicious.

Sure, but I think a key part in there is the Guardian update:

This is something that the intelligence community has been taking very seriously.

The problem is context. You don't know what from the document they have presented, it was gathered from elsewhere. And absent that context, it will all be taken equally. If the lighter claims get shot down, it won't matter if any is true. The CNN report was much better reporting.

Not necessarily. Per the CNN report, the Intelligence community presented Trump with a 2 page summary of documents that they believe are legitimate and derived from the investigation of someone from MI6 over a number of years. That summary was supposedly based on a number of different reports. This dump by Buzzfeed may or may not include some or all of those specific reports, and it may also potentially include fabricated ones - since we have no way currently to verify the chain of documents and per their statement they cannot verify that these are all the same documents that the intel report was based on, it would be entirely possible for some portion of this to have been invented by someone online and wound up added to their document dump.

Yes this was better put.

I guess the GOP will also try to discredit this by making ties to "pro-Clinton" groups and use the 'ol political witch hunt line to try to dismiss everything that's attempting to stick to the wall.

Someone needs to do one of those Sox "future payrolls" spreadsheets but put together a bulletin or whiteboard (think Sherlock Holmes in Elementary) of all the various Russian ties and attempting to link them all together in a spiderweb of conflicts.

Here's a pretty decent summary from about a month ago, but a bit superficial feeling now.

You've got Manafort, Tillerson, Cohen, Michael Flynn, etc.
