He's so f***ing quick through the zone, it's crazy.

They probably could have edited video down but I liked getting used to how slow motion it all was then he swings and it looks real time.

Didn't see this anywhere, but according to MiLB.com's transactions, Cory Luebke decided to retire on Monday.

Have a batch of prospect injury updates, from various sources...

--Alex Call took swings in the cage earlier this week, and is close to a return

--Victor Diaz went to DL with shoulder soreness, and recently had a setback. Is rehabbing in AZ.

--Jordan Stephens is throwing in Ext ST, should be back soon.

--Corey Zangari had Tommy John surgery, so he's likely out for the year.

That sucks. Was looking forward his progress this year.

I keep forgetting about Stephens, can't wait for him to be back.

Great update....wonder when exactly before/after trade Diaz got hurt

Just an interesting observation:

In 2015, Charlotte had another young switch hitting second baseman. He was a year older than Moncada is now, and he didn't have his power or speed, but he did

put up some very impressive numbers at AAA that year. His name was Carlos Sanchez, a.k.a. Yolmer Sanchez.

Here are the comparative stats for Moncada's season to date, and below are the 2015's AAA totals, for Sanchez, who spent most of the season in Chicago:

(Sorry I can't seem to format it better)

G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS

33 135 27 45 69 4 1 6 13 17 1 42 10 2 .333 .405 .511 .916

29 131 17 45 61 10 0 2 17 4 0 28 5 2 .344 .368 .466 .833

Note Moncada's 31% strike out rate, vs. Yolmer's 21%.

Maybe we shouldn't be shocked that Sanchez is enjoying success, so far with the Sox.

I said it when it happened and I'll say it now - Diaz as the last piece in the Sale deal is extremely underwhelming. I have no idea why the Sox didn't take a hitter over him.

I'm sure they wanted another hitter. At the very least, I wanted a starting pitcher prospect as the 4th piece.

Pretty sure they were after Moncada / Kopech / Devers. When DD wouldn't budge on Devers, they went with Basabe / Diaz. But I agree - Basabe should have been the 4th piece.

RT @CST_soxvan: Down on the farm, Reynaldo Lopez (AAA Charlotte) has pitched to a 2.20 ERA with 26 Ks in 28 2/3 IP while riding a 5-game winning streak.

Thought this as well, my thought is that Hahn thought he'd be a fast riser and decent MLBer sooner rather than later. I still think Diaz is a future big leaguer, just nothing special

Maybe Devers will come here for Q and Todd with some friends
