Completely the right call.

100% agreed. Said it earlier too that I don't mind at all that we're standing pat.

Kopech still here...✅ Vaughn still here...✅ Madrigal still here...✅ Dunning still here...✅ I’m good!

  • Stay strong NOT Steve

  • It probably is. That said you don't know everything.  The smartest guy in the room act is comical.

I'm just glad we didn't overpay for Lance friggen Lynn.  Makes me happy.

Yeah he's garbage after all. What a waste.

Independent of anything to do with the Sox, what the hell is texas doing.

New stadium next year...need fan intere$t.

Big oof on Daniels' part. You gotta trade Lynn. Maybe the returns weren't as expected, but I don't think that Rangers team is competing next year.

Sometimes deadline deals that don’t go down can still put the foundation for future moves to be in play in the winter. Besides, I think of this team as more of something like the 2015 Cubs, so more talent can still arrive and be acquired this winter. Lynn could still be acquired this winter and they could bring in other pitchers much line they acquired starting pitchers in the early 2000s.

stick a fork in 'er.

Totally fine with this. Would’ve been a fun discussion about who they got and gave up. But I’ve been a Dunning fan for awhile now. Glad he’s staying and it’s not worth Kopech.

Side note: what the hell are the Rangers doing?

best news of the day is no news for Sox. Long term is better thinking than just for this year. Very happy

He would've helped us next year too, but obviously there is a fine line in what you're willing to give up for that.

Lynn not going doesn't make a lot of sense to me......which should also tell us their asking price was probably way too high, in which case Rick and Co. did the right thing.

Yeah, if they really wanted to trade him they would have. I'm sure there were some OK offers out there. Good job sticking to your guns Rick. They didn't blink on whatever our offer was, unfortunately. Too bad. Let's go to war with who we have and hope for a miracle, then be ready to win it all next year with a more seasoned Cease and Dunning.

Lol I love how this 1960s business axiom still sticks around against all odds.

Texas fans are pissed.

As Tony said earlier,  this is fine but they better spend on upgrades this offseason at SP and RF.

Rodon returning sending Lopez to the bullpen in a week is the acquisition

Anyone banking on Carlos Rodon needs their head examined.

JD is a bad GM. The Rangers should have gotten much much better value from all the pitchers they've been trading the past few years. They wait too long every single time.

A deal must be still coming...no way they would be quiet for this long if something didn’t go through

He's still tradeable in the off season with his low salary next year. Probably thought they could get a better deal then.

Wasn't that enthused about Lynn so glad they didn't over pay.  Kinda bummed they didn't address the rotation or RF at all.

I guess Texas feels they can probably do better in the offseason since Lynn still has another year left on his contract.

We all know Lance Lynn will draw crowds for a last place or next-to-last place team.
