The only thing Madrigal did for the clubhouse was make them come together to dislike him

Man the amount of energy people are wasting on being hurt about what the announcers were saying is surprising even for Soxtalk.

This is where not having a healthy Rodon really hurts. Rodon throwing 99 in game 1 and Gio going game 2 would have put us in a much better spot.

I don't think there was ever a chance Carlos started game 1.

I'm not going to derail this by arguing about Madrigal, but you are too smart for this. Even if you weren't a fan of him as a player, he was objectively a very productive player and someone the Sox could have used badly right now.

Sure he would be better than Leury or Cesar right now, but for him to say he kept the clubhouse loose is wrong. More than one insider has said the organization thought he was a turd

Even if he was pitching like he did in June and July? He would be the Cy Young favorite had he been healthy. He definitely would have gotten the game 1 start.

Very real chance his knee is not 100%, so the Sox could have had a good reason not to go with him in game 1 if so.  It wouldn’t have bothered him in the slightest because he is a realistic person.

The guy signed to be with the Sox for a few years. He did everything to earn his start. With Rodon not feeling great he was absolutely going to start game 1 or 2. The match ups make tomorrow more winnable.

If anything the Lynn and Grandal need to figure out how you can beat a fastball hitting team throwing 74 fastballs on 76 pitches. Either have to get effectively wild or show more breaking stuff.

Yoan looks competent at the plate.  Can he bat lefty tomorrow?

Or have home field advantage...

Hey, we scored!!

Nice job Abreu!

We didn't get shutout!

No shutout!

Don’t stop now boys!!

Hey, hits and a run!

If Grandal can un-funk himself here...

Yeeeee Hahhhhhhh! A run!

I simply disagree about earning things being a concern to consider  in a win or go home series. This is not the same as earning opening day of the season.

Jose is one tough dude

Their bullpen is gettable. If the starters can get it to a tie game in the 6th, the Sox have an edge.

Absolutely love how AJ is talking about not letting run producer see the fastball too much. He used to kick the Sox ass with the Twins by calling breaking pitches more often than usual.
