So many going for Conforto, even with his required offer payout. I say S. Marte is, in all respects a better option. The Sox probably have too many holes to fill to bring either of them in, but even so it's Marte over Conforto. Cheaper and better. What's not to like?

Your correct about this. I think this is the more likely scenario. Maybe they are thinking of switching off Kopech and Keuchel as the 5th starter and use one of them in long relief if the other one is starting or they are thinking of trading Keuchel. There are some options there.

Keuchel is untradeable at this point.  They will roll into 2022 hoping that he rebounds.

With Rodon and Madrigal gone, as well as Fulmer, Burdi and Collins (likely), that leaves only TA, Crochet, Vaughn and Burger to carry banner for Sox first rounders...

Also, next time the White Sox farm system breaks out of the Bottom 10? 

Likely to be at least 7-8 years from now, 6 if we are being really generous about ability to recover, and/or pessimistic about the length of the current window and divisional opponents.

Here's the thing that most aren't talking about... Carlos Rodon probably won't give you 2021 Carlos Rodon production in 2022.  Even if they brought him back, they probably aren't getting that level of production again.

Also I may well be fuzzy,  but this doesn't stop the White Sox from signing him to a different deal.

Is there something to the Scherzer thing or just wishful thinking? 

The Sox might actually feel more comfortable signing him to a multi year deal as opposed to a younger player, as there’s no way Scherzer’s camp can reasonably ask for anything more than three years.

Unless Jimenez, Robert and Grandal are all Top 10-15 AL MVP candidates next year, we are not nearly as strong as we were on August 15th...or Vaughn puts up a massive sophomore campaign.

He was a Top 3 starter in the AL the first half....so was Lynn. 

But sure, Contreras was only the best pitcher in baseball for four months over 2005-06 and it was enough to push them over the top.

That’s not good because this team was very average during the second half last year.  This post is ridiculous though, as you can say the same about every team in baseball right now besides Cubs and Tigers.

Like I’ve said before, I’m very torn on Rodon in general so I’m very meh at this news.  I’m just going to sit back and see how the off-season plays out and then when I hate it like usual, I’ll get pissed at that point.

Because this is the team the Sox are taking on Spring Training? On November 7th?

Why do so many here just toss out all logic and thought when one move happens? It’s like this is the first time anyone has ever gone through an offseason before.

The fact that the Sox wouldn't even risk Rodon accepting for 18 million, even though QO's are almost always worth extending given 1 year deals have less risk, it's absolutely hilarious anyone thinks they're going to go after Scherzer.

I thought Kimbrel was supposed to signify this team was going to open the pocket books. Rodon was a no-brainer when it came to extending a QO. Worst case he signs on and he's a 5th-6th starter next season giving you 120-150 good innings. I'll argue all day that Rodon has more value than Kimbrel at this point in time too, and they cost nearly the same.
