They have to field a decent enough team to keep the fans interested. Might be just the Minnesota way of rebuilding .Maybe looking to be competitive next year. The Sox could start falling off if Lynn's back gets bad . Kopech struggles, Giolito has a down year and Cease struggles to keep moving forward.

Unless the Sox they actually have a deep farm to trade from and a couple of prospect arms who could make their debuts this year. They still aren’t at the Sox level, but they could be competitive this year if they want to.

So are the Yankees going to give Voit away? I think he'd be a great flier for basically anyone that doesn't already have a top 10 1B + entrenched DH.

Don’t they need a catcher even for just one year? With this guys salary he is a starting catcher right? I think they just wanted to free up space to maybe sign someone else as part of their build . Al central is open for wild card .

Voit has a 133 career wRC+. The dude absolutely rakes. The Yankees must think his body is about to completely breakdown because he's a better hitter at this point of his career, when healthy, than Rizzo.

They like Jeffers a lot. Rortvedt isnt really big leaguer, but he’s a really good defensive catcher.
