BP = Batting Practice

That's what Keuchel would be with his stuff in the pen.

doubt Keuchel is as bad as last year, was an outlier if you look at his career numbers.  reminded me of Buerhle in 2006

he's had two bad seasons other than 2021 and  neither were that bad

he bounced back both times with a sub 3ERA

hes gonna probably be pitching his ass off for that guaranteed money to kick in, I'm expecting a good year for him

It's absolutely criminal how they handled Crochet.  You can't have such a young pitcher throw at max effort under the intensity of a big league game and expect his arm to hold up.  There's a reason wh

They did Crochet a disservice with the way they chose to him develop.  They did what was best for the organization instead of what's best for the player.  He should have been sent tp the minors and gi

This sucks buts it’s hard to make the argument that it’s anyone’s fault, in particular. Until we make some serious advances in injury prevention, this shit just happens a lot to pitchers, especially w

Wonder if a team (A’s) would take his rehab on in a trade?

I thought the same thing. I'd trade Crochet for Manaea today, even with Manaea being a FA at the end of the year.

It's worth the risk if Oakland is willing to put in the time with Crochet.

Wonder if this (or something) truly did happen in the 2020 Oakland game when he was pulled... Could our MRI have missed it/passed on it?

This. Crappy to say but almost wish he had TJ 2 seasons ago.

I would prefer they give him Sandy Koufax  surgery who was even better than the long career of TJ.

It not even really the Tommy John surgery any longer with the advancement they've made. Same concept though.

Know of any other LHRPs that will come at this org's price and are available?

First off, Jace Fry is on the Nationals - So, he is not available.

Bennett Sousa.  Anderson Severino.  In House.

Tony Watson.  Ask Andrew Miller about coming out for retirement.   FA?

They also picked up a LH flamethrower named Yoan Aybar on waivers recently IIRC.

Coop Katz will fix him.

At least it happened early enough that he will be ready for the start of 2023.

IMO as the 2nd lefty they will throw out Aybar/Severino/Sousa (whichever one performs the best) until the TDL and go grab a rental LH reliever then.

Assuming they pull the trigger soon, yes.

If he needs it, they'll have nearly 12 months before next season starts.

Maybe they'll try conservative care first. That could change things. Or if the do a repair instead of a reconstruction.

That's what I'm worried about....

Interesting. I wonder if they are debating between surgery and conservative or reconstruction and repair.

Will we ever get to the point where a player just decides to operate early at the first sign of potential troubles?  It would have been great if Crochet had TJS right after the 2020 postseason.

It's always tough. While reconstruction is at 85% return to PLOF, there is still a chance he won't.

So if the joint isn't too lax its tough to advocate for surgery.

No shock, sadly

Yeah, just confirmation of our fears from last night.  Sucks, but what can you do.

They didn't do any tests on the field. Not a good sign.

Just wanted to point out that ptatc said this right away so he pretty much knew.

Wish him the best in his recovery.

For all of the people that believe Crochet will never be starter:

Would you trade him in a deal for a starter?

Absolutely, would have done it the last two offseasons also

Interesting thought. It’s not like Oakland is winning anything this year anyways so maybe they would take him as part of their longer term plans.

Considering getting it for my son for his 11th bday

No doctor on earth is going to preemptively cut someone open and do an unneeded surgery on someone.  This is just never going to happen.

Son: "dad, my elbow feels sore"
