Put Burger at 2B (or Yoan at 2B and Burger at 3B)

It really sucks when I kinda remake a Jake burger hype train only for it to be immediately hijacked by the most insane posters and you can’t even talk about how Jake might be much better than prospect ranking or expectations and instead just have ti be like “ok yeah but he’s actually not tHAT good” all the time

That’s the thing, I actually think he can be a 2 win player right now with the possibility for more.  But thinking he’ll be a 4 to 5 win player based on what we know right now is pretty ridiculous.

Do you have any studies showing that covid reduces people's strength long term to this extent?

There is substantial literature demonstrating long term muscle issues (months and beyond) in some COVID patients. Here is a review paper from last month summarizing the current state of research:

Nobody can really prove this to be true. I believe that covid can have long term effects, but zapping his power? Maybe he's just a great player that benefited from juiced balls, instead of an MVP caliber player.

Moncada had a 98th percentile average EV in 2019 / pre COVID and was ripping everything at the time.  His power has definitely been diminished the last two years.

They need to showcase Burger at third for a starting pitcher trade and hope and pray Moncada stays healthy for the remainder of the season.

Trading Burger, unless it's for a top of the rotation pitcher which is highly unlikely, would be a big mistake.  He's more valuable to this team which already lacks depth than any mediocre stop gap pitcher or one year rental would be.

"These symptoms can persist for months, decreasing the quality of life of numerous individuals."

"COVID-19 has demonstrated to affect a multi-variety of organs, including the musculoskeletal system, causing symptoms such as fatigue, arthralgia, myalgia and muscle weakness, which can persist during weeks or months after the end of the infection"

So where does it say that it can persist for years?

Long covid is different. They're just starting to do research now, it had been largely ignored until the numbers became undeniable.

Somewhere between 10-30% of all covid cases result in long covid. The fact that he's out there at all is kinda amazing, given what has happened to non-athletes.

Covid has only existed for 3 years bro. It took 15 years for the medical community to have a decent understanding of HIV, which was discovered roughly 40-45 years ago.

So until we have the data, we just definitively say that a guy sucking is a result of long covid? Just about every basketball player got covid. Why aren't we seeing long covid impacts with them? You said 10-30%. You'd think we'd be seeing major impacts.

Why do you think there's a labor shortage? There's a whole bunch of people that died or can't work anymore.

Hahahahah ok.  I'm not sure you would recognize a fact if it struck you upside the head, but by all means, enjoy your delusional attention-seeking fantasy land.

This long of a reaction in a high level athlete would definitely be unusual, but Yoan’s drop in exit velocity also seems unusual and it started when his symptoms started, so that is one possible issue. If it is still an issue and he just can’t get the muscles going like he used to, they’re not going to tell us.

Moncada had one great year, 2019.  Outside of that, he has been pretty much what he is.  Maybe it's not Covid, maybe he is just this and the 2019 year was the lark.

Not a Harrison fan personally, but let's give him a chance at least

The money spent on Velasquez, Harrison, Kelly, and Cueto could have been put to much better use

Graveman, Kimbrel for Pollock dump, and a splashier add would have been a fine off season...We don't need camp bodies

Graveman, Pollock, and RODON would have been a fine off season, no need for these cast offs

Whatever you want to look at, Burger is better and clearly better with the bat, thus better

He is a top prospect who has had to battle mental and physical issues just to get to this point. I think all Sox fans are hoping he continues to develop into an everyday player.

The jump to MLB is big. We know the guy ahead of him is MLB ready. I'm hoping Jake has a chance to earn some ABs by  getting in 30 to 40 games this year.

Until then, I'm certain your son/client/employer appreciates your undying support. 😏

After watching the 1st 3 games, Harrison does not look like a bad move for not giving up anything. Yes, as usual the Sox went on the cheap, BUT he could be a steal. Now, if you would move Moncada back to second and play Burger at 3rd, I’d like to see that experiment if Harrison goes into a slump. But so far so good!!!

Moncada still isn’t moving back to 2B.
