That's one more Leury Harrison or VV they won't be able to afford.

  • This manager sets the tone and it sucks. I saw so much sloppiness from this team. They do little things wrong and it has been put up with far too long under this regime.    Kopech flubs a ball

Obligatory ‘Fire Tony La Russa’ post for good luck.

  • I swear LaRussa makes more than 1 bad decision every single game.  The old adage that a bad manager will cost you no more than 3 losses is just plain wrong with this guy.  He really was the worst poss

Can anyone confirm the Sox can just buy him out for 5 million after this year

the random ass leury walk is always something to behold in its natural habitat

Leury works the walk and made Ohtani throw a lot of pitches.

Harrison has no shot against Ohtani's fastball

Credit where it's due, that was a good at bat.

3 or 4 back, since the loss column is what matters to Steve Stone.

Thats how I interpret what I read, but I could be wrong

they block that ball while our guys can’t catch a baseball

This team blows with the bases loaded

We see so many good defensive plays against us. Then we we our guys not catching routine balls. It's so infuriating.

Bases loaded and SOS

And with any RISP not much better.

The righties have done better against him than I figured they would.  Of course the lefties have done terrible.  Story of the season.

So they’re going to have to pay him 10 million next year, assuming he doesn’t opt-out?

Plus those incentives for plate appearances.  That's the most reasonable way to interpret it.  On a current pace for 457.

He continues to say it, since the loss column is less than the number of games back they are overall.

No, it's a player opt out ($5M and 2023 FA or $10M Player Option). The White Sox have no say.

In addition, the Sox will have to pay more if he continues to play regularly

A.J. Pollock

  • 23:$10M player option ($5M buyout)
  • 2023 option increases $1M each for 400, 450, 500, 550, 600 plate appearances in 2022
  • 2023 option increases $1M per point based on finish in 2019-22 MVP voting, with 5 points for first place, 3 points for second-fifth place, and 1 point for sixth-10th place :D
  • with 1,000 PA in 2020-21 or 1,450 PA in 2019-21, Pollock may opt out of contract after 2021 season and receive $5M buyout
  • assignment bonus: $1.5M for each trade

They should trade him no matter what in the next month then, even though I doubt teams would take that contract on.

I can read it either way, really just depends who the buyout is for.

Of course, if we keep losing and the Dodgers keep killing off outfielders, maybe they'll take him back

He also can get more depending on where he finishes in MVP voting.

The contrast in outfield defense in that Baltimore series was particularly telling.
