Nah.  They aren't bad enough to completely fall out, but aren't interested enough to do what needs to be done.

I know, trying to get my hopes up at least

All right, now we just need an on-side kick and  TD

All that for a split and no ground gained.  Can't wait to get scolded again for not being excited about this mediocrity.

  • This is a great call. Rick, if you're listening, you should absolutely cut a 27 year old that is owed 42 million over the next two seasons, this will greatly improve the Sox chances of winning a World

Trade him at his lowest value, that makes a lot of sense.

It's not really that crazy an ideas when considering his arbitration # is probably coming in at $12 million based on scale.

Maybe $12 million are better used elsewhere since the team all of a sudden is flooded with holes.

Glad we are scared enough to make  a double into a triple. I get doing that if you are good enough to pitch over it, Giolito has not been that

Yeah that works a lot better with Cease, Kopech or even Cueto pitch-ability.

Giolito went from wanting 200m contract...to lucky to be in the league by next season.

Don't worry we will probably offer him a multi year contract! ?

grounder

Simply awful from Vaughn

Exactly the same amount pretty much nobody is excited about spending on AJ Pollock.  Or $13 million if he hits his PA incentives correctly.

what makes you think he is at his lowest value lol?

Fuck off, Vaughn. Seriously. That was 85-90% going to be a ground ball to the left side of the infield.

I hope you are right!

His stats have been on a consistent decline from 2019...but especially this year.

So has his fastball velocity, WHIP, inability to be effective with curve balls or sliders, etc.

What is your solution?

Not to trade him in the offseason at his lowest value given that next year is a contract year and he will be really motivated to bounce back.

Baty is clearly a more advanced prospect, though.  Colas basically had 2-3 seasons off.

Roy Hobbs was away from baseball for like 16 years.  When you've got it, you've got it.  Unleash Oscar!!!

When has his value ever been lower than it is right now?

Andrew Vaughn just leaves me desiring a lot more too often.

Giolito is a salary dump at this point, so if they want to get out of his last arb year, a non-tender is probably the best option.

Keeping him is making the Kimbrel mistake again.

This offense is so awful

The next 7 games, 3 at Clev, 1 at KC, and 3 at Balt will tell us if the Sox are done or not. They only have 6 games left against Clev so 2 of 3 this weekend is almost a must.

Nothing, they’ve regressed.  Only Cease and Lopez have shown any improvement this year.

Kopech is better

Are they approaching the MLB record for double plays??

The Indians and Orioles might put them out of their misery pretty quickly.

Went from looking like a first place tie was possible until the 8th inning in both CLE and Chicago to this.

Not shocking or surprising to most observers, of course.

Every season other than 2021?

Not really, he was cheap and had a lot of team control at that point.
