What were the Giants thinking?? He might accept and then they'll be stuck with an ace on 1 year deal.

Sox will let their catching corps go down the tubes while pretending that Grandal is not crippled. May 1 will bring a cruel lesson.

Honestly?  That's exactly what you do.  You hope he is back to the 2020-21 version for what you owe him.  If he bounces back, great.  If not, you release him in May or June and call up Perez.  There is no risk here.  It isn't about pretending, it is about a lack of options.

With their limited funds, it isn't like they have a lot to spend here anyway.

...is there a spaceship currently on this spot?

I don't think people realize what an awful location that would be for a baseball park. Hard to get to. The nearest CTA train is a mile away. If anyone has ever been to a Bears game and decided to take a bus from Roosevelt, the closest station to Soldier Field, it takes longer than walking due to heavy Lake Shore Drive traffic.

Its OK for the Bears 10 times a year on Sundays. But 81 games a year, most during the work week, would be a nightmare.

The other thing is, the biggest complaint about the Sox current home, is lack of restaurants and bars around it. If the Sox moved to Soldier Field, that situation would be worse.

Can't wait for Carlos Perez to hit 40 bombs

it'll probably be for the brewers

He'll get traded to the Yankees for a bad reliever, they'll fix his swing, and he'll turn into a 30 HR guy

Jays were also after Ian Happ at the trade deadline last year when the Cubs priced him out of everyone's market.

Plus Davidson can bolster the Carp's bullpen on days they need a little help.

Good luck to Matt....just channel that opening day in KC big fella.

I could talk myself into Bellinger on the Sox but they probably won't even aim that "high" in terms of OF additions

So Mariners are going for it you think?

No need for a new park without a new location. Soldier Field is an island.

God bless you Jerry DiPoto for making deals during Hot Stove season and trade deadline period.

Edit: doesn’t look like much for Lewis, though I didn’t want him anyway.

This trade makes so no sense for Seattle.  It’s a good risk for the d-backs.

Does that clear out the Seattle OF Glut?

I'll take Alek Thomas off Arizona's hands. What would it cost to get him?
