  • For the record, I would love nothing more than this team to excel this year and make the postseason.

People act like the frustrations with the Sox are coming just from a 3-4 start, but its a lot more than that.  Its a decade+ of failure bubbling over.  We were promised a world series contender by Hah

  • Yep. Gamethreads are a trip.

Hanser needs to bulk.

Moncada's foot must be bothering him enough to not pinch hit there.

Batting Alberto 5th is paying major dividends today....

And that is why you don't hit Alberto fifth...

That inning is yet again, on TA and Luis.

You have to crush that pitch.(the first one, to be clear)

Grifol justed stated that Alberto is a better hitter than Burger.....hope he learns from his mistakes.

How tf does Moncada not come in there

I was one to quickly claim Kopech's career is over.  My sense with Kopech is that he as no idea how to approach a hitter.  His FB was so dominant his entire life he's never had to learn.  Now his FB is pedestrian, his breaking ball command suspect, and change up command still a work in progress.  Now he's trying to learn how to pitch at the big league level and I don't suspect it will go very well.

Lance on the other hand is just fat and old.

That is a fair analysis of Kopech. I tend to think that he will figure it out and be a serviceable pitcher, but I don’t think he will be a star. I also think he could also belong in the pen, but they didn’t get another starter to allow him to be that.

I’m optimistic Lynn also still has something in the tank, even if he’s fat and old.

So far, as a whole, this team feels like it did last year. A mediocre, up and down, .500 baseball team.

I get those vibes too, but I still sense improvement coming that will change that narrative. There are signs that support a continuation of last year and a difference from then.

Pedro's worst move of the year

He is the virtual offensive replacement for Abreu in terms of Eloy and Vaughn still in the lineup.

Yes but defense and contracts are part of the equation.

Someone put a curse on Sox with bases loaded because they can’t get a hit in 2 seasons.

Why is Lynn still in?  He’s throwing 89 mph fastballs

Colas hits and Romy goes to third

That was good framing by Seby

TA dove for a ball! Didn't get it, but still!

Because this offense isn't scoring 7 runs again.

Why is he still out there?

Thats exactly how it should have gone after hitting for sheets.

I'm thinking Grifol is a little over his skis with this job.

Pedro is not good at this bullpen thing. Why was Lynn still in?

Yikes.

*adds "left Lynn in WAY too long" to list of boners by Grifol
