Davis Martin undergoes TJS

Featured Replies

Nate Fisher next up?

I can think of him, Garret Crochet, and Dane Dunning off the top of my head of guys that it seemed obvious they were going to need Tommy John surgery but the White Sox pushed it back and tried to have them work through it and avoid surgery. Have the Sox had success with anyone actually avoiding TJ or do they just cost themselves several months worth of recovery time constantly?

He joins great company with the other Sox pitchers on the staff to have TJS, along with Dylan Cease, Lucas Giolito, Michael Kopech, Jimmy lambert and Garrett Crochet.

So, heading into a supposed contending season with Davis Martin as the only viable minor league SP depth may not have been a good idea after all.

I believe the entire starting rotation has had TJS at this point.

This should have happened October 1st.

Never fear, Rick Hahn's wonderful depth department will easily cover for his absence.  Oh wait...

Just imagine this rotation the final months with Giolito and Lynn gone (and maybe Clevinger)

All right...my best guess is...

Cease, Kopech, Schlotens, Mena, Burke

They've been lucky that the rotation has been healthy to this point...so far.

There are? News to us, Pedro. Maybe you should check those AAA box scores some more, because I can assure you, there aren't "others in the minors who are nearing readiness".

Seems like this is always where this was headed. Bad break for him. He would have had a sure spot in the rotation lined up for next year at the latest. Now other guys will get first shot.

Dylan Covey will likely be available again.

Currently with LAD.

Desirable winning % for getting another high draft pick.

Still only 31 lol.

Bring back 2017/18 vibes.

Great winning % for getting another high draft pick.

Rick Hahn will surely ask that Covey be included in the Tim Anderson trade.

I always thought they needed to spend higher draft picks on starting pitchers. What is the downside in that, they either get injured or fail and go to the bullpen?

We saw something with his two-seamer back then that really looked promising...other than his 4-18 or 4-22 or whatever record it was he recorded.

Former first rounder for Milwaukee, always had lots of obstacles in his path forward.  We think he can really mentor the younger pitchers with his vast treasure test of experiences along his long and winding baseball journey.

Criminal they way they handled this much like Dunning, Rodon in the past.

Basically they have NO depth now at starting pitching.

Only Rick Hahn. Honest question, can he really be that dense and stupid as a GM?

Covey’s on the Dodgers now. The Dodgers. He’ll win 15 games with an ERA under 3 because… magic. I dunno. They just do things to pitchers.

Don't forget Noah Schultz. He's currently resting up his forearm as well. Could be 6 months into his rehab instead.

Rest and rehab of forearm tightness remains undefeated

It seems almost deliberate. No one minding the store, no one developing young arms for success.
