Any relation to Man Soo Lee? Not that Lee is a common name or anything.

One of my favorites from the 2005 team.

Really liking this acquisition. Thanks for the articles!

Lee doesn't seem Korean.

At least we're trying to get all the first rounders from Berkeley since Oregon State didn't work out so well.

This is actually the most fun in the 2023 season

  • Can you imagine how excited Hahn is to get to spend on relievers again this coming offseason?

I would have given Graveman away for free just to rid ourselves of his salary for next year.  This is a great return for a guy not living up to his contract.

For those interested, JJ Cooper clarified why BAs mid-season ranking of Lee saw him plummet from 7 to 29.

Yikes.  So a 25 year old without a bat that profiles at a position other than catcher and apparently can’t play defense.  It’s for Graveman so whatever, but yeah, can see why he’d see a huge drop in the rankings.

The sudden emphasis in catchers is interesting.  It's like someone said "hey dumbasses you have no catchers in the system."  I wonder who that person could be.

That it's more ridiculous than the Machado friends and family plan.

Also, Vaughn kinda sucks so if he was the best player on that team, what does it say about Lee?

Fangraphs currently has Lee as the 75th best prospect in the game, fwiw.

What is ridiculous?  That LAD asked the Sox to eat $500k due to Trayce when they're eating $12M due to Lynn and Kelly?

The Thompson part of this trade is irrelevant.  No idea why so many people are focused on it.

Interesting. His MLB.com write up sounds non-too-promising and his numbers indicate that he has little to no offensive approach.  But you always need catchers.

Vaughn was supposedly the best player in the entire country...

I think everyone knows that it's irrelevant. They just find it amusing.

Woof. This was a concern I had where Hahn obssesses over prospect rankings because he doesn't trust the scouts that he hires and hasn't ever fired.

But even so, we are talking about a trade for a middle reliever. He is reasonably athletic. He might just need to keep working.

Do we know if he sets up on a knee?

@oldsox

I'd consider this a good sign for Hackenberg. We talked about how the best way to know if sox thought hackenberg was developing was gonna be his promotions. Well, here ya go. When Perez goes down, I assume Xavier Fernandez is gone.

Clearing out a bad overpaid bullpen and adding depth to a depleted farm system.  It looks like someone is cleaning up someone elses mistakes.

Why is Hahn still speaking to the media then? Where is Kenny?

it's a bit off color and would probably get them cancelled had the joke come out now but one of the funniest bits on the Dugout was Mr. Met, whose avatar was of course the Mr. Met mascot, typing in the chat "I hate when we [lose] and it makes me so angry I have to go home and [kiss] my wife right in the face".

Because he still has an 80 grade silver tongue so his job is now basically glorified White House press secretary role for MLB club while Trader Kenny is working in the background.

Is that from before the season tho or do they update it?

He's had a rough year but was great last year.

sox just got their catcher for the next 6 years and all it took was a 4.85 xFIP reliever? great move

his scouting is all over the place (30 hit tool?) but a 75 overall rank and 50 FV from fangraphs is good enough for me

Thompson is a AAAA warm body. Irrelevant

Ding ding ding, we have a winner.

Lee is easily the best catcher in the org now. He actually has the exact opposite profile of Quero. If Quero can't stick behind the plate, there's always Lee.
