DeJong will be very valuable if Remillard, Sosa, Gonzalez and Rodriguez all get injured.

I don't understand the rationale behind signing Dejong and trading for Lopez and NOT giving a legit tryout to Sosa or Rodriguez.. Like... We KNOW DeJong and Lopez are garbage, let's see if either of o

Maybe, just maybe...The Sox are confident in acquiring a top 2B prospect in a Cease trade, and the Lopez acquisition and DeJong signing are stop gaps for said 2B prospect and Montgomery.

I will say this : The idea that this prevents a Sosa/Rodriguez tryout just isn't true to me.

This guy was waived last year. It doesn't stop you from doing anything.

Why can't we just go with our young guys? What is the purpose of signing a declining vet who has been awful

I cannot state this enough: Pedro hates rookies.

Was going to say, bmags how short are you? LOL

Yeah, 2021-2023 stat lines read like a sequel to the movie Terrifier....what a debacle.

I DO wish we'd at least give our guys a shot at taking the job, in the Spring.

Such a Hahn/Williams signing, meet the new boss, same as old boss!

Like the beginning of the first episode of Family Guy when it returned from being cancelled and Peter named off about 30 Fox shows that had started and been cancelled, saying that if all those shows got cancelled, Family Guy might make it.

Brett Lawrie and Jimmy Rollins was a better combo. That didn’t work out so well. Hope they get something decent for Cease and Eloy or they are going to be horrendous until JR gets out.

Lopez and DeJong middle infield…I bet Whit is acquired for RF now.

Yeah things are quite awful in terms of roster personnel with not much in the pipeline

True, it's possible one can hit well in AAA and get promoted early.

Now waiting for the inevitable Merrifield signing and Moncada for Perez trade.

Before you yell at me about the Moncada for Perez thing, Moncada has 1 year at $29M and Perez has 2 years at $44M total so if the Royals save money overall.

Oh you couldn’t be more wrong here.  He’s being acquired to start at SS

I read some BA chat in like 2015 praising the cards for turning dejong into an unlikely shortstop because of his height and it probably wasn't dejong but boy did that stick with me.

Everytime I saw a closeup of that young man I'd think" wow, that's the face of a tall man"

Well, the defense up the middle got a lot better.  That's something, right?  Right?

What it seems like the plan is, to establish an identity on the ground floor of adding/promoting the real talent to the roster later. I guess in this case, a defensive identity. Perhaps a grinder mentality. In other words, the ballyhooed quick turnaround may amount to a turnaround in style orientation rather than a turnaround in the standings.

Tony La Russa is still the boss, and always gets his guys. Getz focuses on Royals. Together, they are an impressive duo.

Precursor to Montgomery for Salvy trade?

Remillard is an easy DFA once this is announced. Well, there’s a bunch of guys…

Type of guy you race to sign in November so no one else can touch him?
