Or sooner. If he puts up a monster 1st half this year, I'd be looking to trade him at the deadline. Can't screw around and wait for more injuries. A high performance healthy 1st half would mean h

So when does he get traded? Next offseason?

Good move for him because the initial 50m was probably taken up by "handlers" and the current 88m deal is way below market so he needs to get paid on the next one.

I hope he makes his "come to the White Sox, Cuban prospect" video before he leaves.

This offseason sure has been fun.

Who is starting the Luis Robert trade rumor thread?

He was never going to play out his contract here anyways, doesn't matter who his agent is.

This does however worry me about Luis putting up another 5+ WAR season and Boras bitching about his clients $15million salary.

When is his current contract up? Does he need to be traded after this year or next?

I think the Sox have 2 more years of control plus 2 more years of team options.

He is so fucking gone 12 months from now!!

Assuming he has a healthy/productive season...not sure that's guaranteed at this point in his career.

He’s not resigning here anyway, insignificant

Unless new ownership is in place before his deal expires and given how Boras, the vast majority of the time, takes his players to free agency, you can assume his days with the Sox will be numbered.

At this point, his trade value, will never be higher, trade him now and get a ton of talent.

This is a nonissue. I'm not sure why we wouldn't trade him. We're probably 3-4 years from competing.

So to get good value they need to trade him with 2years left on his deal. They have him for 2 more years.

Agreed.

I don’t know what this season will look like for him on health or performance but I do think this raises the chance that they listen if they get a serious bidder. Ditto next offseason.

Thanks for your time on the Southside, Luis, and good luck to whatever team you land on next...rest assured, you'll be on another team.

Why wait 2 years?  May as well trade him with more than 2 years of control.  Luis Robert may sell some tickets for Reinsdorf over the next two seasons but he isn’t leading the Sox to the playoffs.

Soto was the max value at 3 1/2 years remaining...if you compare to value at just 2.

Significant difference between the two respective packages.
