Sox fans are a weird bunch.  Practically my whole life, people bitched about the current stadium.  Now, they are planning to build a ballpark that looks like it would be one of the premier sports

Interesting possibility.

Huh, that's certainly something.

I think it works. They could even keep some of the GRF parking and run a shuttle.

This is the last thing that Reinsdorf deserves.

At some point, the stadium authority would need to get involved in determining the future of Guaranteed Rate Field and possibly in building a new ballpark, if it is publicly funded.

This is a blank canvas and there are so many awesome options. A stadium that overlooks the skyline! They could really build something special. However, they need to have a plan for traffic because Roosevelt can be a real clusterf*ck between State and all the way past Canal.

If you want anything other than that, pay for it yourself.

Public transportation would be incredible there.  Be a lot less need to drive from the burbs.

Great point. Roosevelt L stop literally just blocks away.

How far away would it be from LaSalle Street Metra Station?

That water taxi quote sounds interesting too. This really sounds like a fun location for a park.

Now I'm going to be devastated when it comes out years later that this could have been something really cool that we miss our on a la the Camden Yards design.

Mile-ish walk

Whatever gets the team away from Generic_Baseball_Stadium_01 I'm all for. Of course, I'm not a Chicagoan, who potentially is footing the bill...

Exactly. We can dream but once everyone gets their greedy little fingers in the pot it's just going to be garbage.

I had to do a double take. I expected it to be an old article from the first time the site was considered.

I thought the land was spoken for, but a new modern stadium at Clark & Roosevelt would be game changer for the future health of the whole White Sox organization.

Please Universe, please make it happen.

The Bears are working like hell to get out of that deal.

This would literally be a dream come true if were to happen.  Hopefully this ends up being Jerry’s final olive branch for decades of terrible ownership.

I always pass that location on my way into the city and seems very feasible that they could just construct another stop in the nothingness that lives there if they so chose to do so. Would LOVE this location.

LaSalle & Van Buren to Clark & Roosevelt is about half a mile. 10-15 minute walk with plenty of CTA options.

Since Sox fans are excited about the possibility, how long before Bob says the rumor is false?

More likely he suggests Nashville is another option to ensure we are properly kicked in the balls

Very exciting but it is likely just part of the negotiation process to extend his sweetheart lease another decade.

That would be awesome too.

Waiting for Sports Guy to drop in and tell us why it’s not happening
