If you want to watch all three teams on the yet to be released piece of s%*# CHSN app, it will cost you $30 a month. Otherwise, it's $20 per team. They've already priced themselves out of the existing options. The ONLY way that $30 a month is a good option, is if you want to watch all three teams, and don't already have existing streaming/cable packages. ESPN+ package is $15 a month, plus a few bucks for a VPN. Watch your Blackhawks hockey. Cheaper. MLB single team is $120 a year. Cheaper. NBA is $17 a month. Cheaper. If you have an antenna that works, it's free... Personally, the only team I give a s%*# about at this point, is the Blackhawks. October 29, 20241 yr What is Directv Streaming missing? Did anyone switch to that? I heard nothing about it but everyone yelling about Fubo. I google what it has and doesn't have and obviously get 100 different answers over the past couple years. Looks like it is a tad more expensive. I've had Fubo before and it doesn't have Turner. I went back to it again after the NBA playoffs because YoutubeTV didn't have MLB Network (Which is finally now included with MLB.TV so that no longer matters) and I thought the general picture quality was poor and it loaded slower. Also bought the stock at $40 and it is now a dollar.
October 29, 20241 yr IMO....Local TV stations broadcasting over the air makes spending $50 on a good antenna well worth it. No cable interruptions and the quality of digital broadcasts for free. I love watching Channel 9 news in the morning and some of their other content like Larry Potash' Back Story. Several WTTW based channels as well.

So, they will get $0 of my money. 🤣 Eventually this may be a long downturn in sports. When people start getting into these multiple mini subs and start looking at their monthly budget. You also have to look at the price of streaming. My highest utility is having an ISP and I don't have ESPN. I can watch NFL games but soon that will disappear with all of these streaming services wanting a piece of the pie. Those prices go up as well. The biggest waste of money was buying NHL to stream games. Most of them were blacked out and you might have a choice of 3 games. If only there was a class action lawsuit.
October 29, 20241 yr Marquee is $20 a month, so $30 for all 3 teams isn't that outrageous. I'm not going to buy it though. I went from cable to YouTubeTV years ago because they had CSN included in the base package (and it was far cheaper than cable) but they've raised prices so I am looking for a replacement. I don't watch much TV anymore but access to sports is what keeps me from completely cutting the cord.

I'm happy for you and no doubt a free option is nice but the teams really need to low cost service the rest of the market if they want to be more than a footnote in Chicago. Terrestrial entertainment is a nice outreach but it isn't sustainable as the main source in the 21st Century. I like Manfred's vision that a national streaming package would take priority over local deals, even more so over the antennae people.

Keep in mind, this was coming off the 2023 season, one would expect numbers to be down overall based on two years of missing the post-season for the Cubs. Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney said that the Marquee Sports Network DTC option “beat their planned number of subscriptions by 20%” since it launched in July 2023, according to Meghan Montemurro of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Kenney said, “We saw growing subscriptions each month, and that’s the interesting thing with DTC as opposed to cable. Typically cable subscribers are not turning their cable service on and off monthly based on their programming choices. This is very easy to do (with DTC).” Kenney also was pleased that the DTC product encountered "almost no technical glitches."
