They wasted no time here huh.

Him not playing at all down the stretch was the telltale sign. Declining the option was simply a formality.

I could see a team take a flyer on him on a 1 year prove it deal. But him staying healthy and proving it seems pretty unlikely.

He probably already spent a ton of money on his music video's, lifestyle, and singing career, he'll be motivated$$$$$$

No way. He can't stay healthy. He's a part time player at best.

Ahem…  see Kopech.  I tend to agree with the health issues you noted when it comes to Moncada, but I would not be surprised at all if he had a comeback season with a team like the Dodgers.

So, who's the new punching bag?

Robert, Vaughn, Vargas, Sheets, Fletcher…

Hell, I could probably list the entire projected lineup…

Take your pick.

I don't hate on him. I feel sorry.  There is no organization that has a faith healer for his career.

The injury bug transfers to a different team.

I'm sad actually. He was one of the signings I was really excited about. We were working that Cuba connection. It's just a reminder of when we were on top of the world and reasonably expecting multiple championship seasons.

Good luck to him.

Trades....Robert was the major Cuban signing after Abreu.

That Chris Sale trade sure sucked. We got maybe 15 WAR out of it.

They lost 121 games.  Shouldn’t be too hard to find one.

Can't be Chris Getz.

Prediction:

Moncada signs a FA deal in Houston to replace Bregman.

Is an all star next year.

Probably. But they had no choice. The market for Moncada ain't $25 million, so this thread should be titled: "Obvious Move #2"

Surprised it's not Beni. He's been very very bad though he did blast 20 homers I think. I won't call him "trash," a word that's been on all the news cycles. It's kind of dehumanizing word.

Sale shoulda been our modern day Buehrle. Pitch for the Sox many moons.

Tremendous potential largely unfulfilled.

AMF

I don't care where he goes or how he does.

Watch the Sox resign him, lol

In all honesty, he needs to be a utility guy if he wants to extend his career beyond his next contract. Be a backup 3B/1B on a contender or go to TB to see if they could somehow heal you and fix you.

Like Anderson, this guy and Eloy will be out of baseball within a season or two.

Kopech was already pitching like this at the time of the trade. The Sox failure with him was to not recognize this and pull him back to potentially get more in the offseason.

The injuries and lack of playing time, plus going into his age 30 season are all working against Moncada.

I wish Yoan the best.  He was always Charmin Soft, but the talent is there.  I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him but put him 3+ WAR season in 2025 IF he can play 120+ games.  Huge if though, obviously.

I bet he gets more than most think to.  I'd say 1 year $5-7M with some attainable performance incentives.  He'll certainly have a lot of play for, and is still a well above average defensive 3B.
