  • Who cares? The White Sox can't get any lower. They are going to be awful for years. If the Cubs are willing to pony up, do it.

I’d probably need Arroyo, Collier another piece and their Comp Round A pick to even consider a deal but in this market, that might be the best they can do.

It’s a bad market?

Yep same with the Yankees.  Sucks to hear Boston isn’t significantly involved.

Yup, got to hope it’s posturing or the Cubs / Phillies are in the mix.

Oof. That doesn't fill me with confidence.

I'm trying to quote tweet replies but I can't click on anything with all of the pop ups.

This market is wild. Well see what actually materializes.

But whatever signs we have access to indicate a market sentiment where

a) mid level pitchers are very expensive and no great top tier pitchers to sign

b) there aren’t a lot of great pitchers on the trade market

and yet

Top position prospects are clearly valued way higher than whatever problems arise this year from having sub par pitching - even for contending teams.

Teams would offer two top 15 pitching prospects before a single top 50 hitting prospect. Oh but how about these underperforming former top prospects? Would that interest you?

Whatever happens next, the white Sox have to start developing and drafting and signing hitting because there is no trade market for it and no $$ avenue for this team to sign any.

Interesting way to say you aren't blaming Getz because of the position  prospect hugging without saying it.

I am getting the feeling, despite everyone reporting the White Sox will get a haul again, they are going to end up with another Cease-type package of a team’s #5-10 top prospects.

You guys talking about Soxtalk?  If so, I had to install an ad blocker to actually be able to post.

The attitudes were Eloy, Yoan and some veteran pitchers.  Hard to understand how the farm director is supposed to change attitudes, especially when they were in the "system" for less than 2 years and 1 year respectively.   Their attitudes probably explains why Hahn was able to acquire them in the first place.  It reflects on the lack of due-diligence from the right-honorable former GM.
I guess Crochet has a bit of an attitude, but it's just because he wanted to start, which he was right about.

This conversation literally started because I said that Nick Madrigal’s bad attitude should probably reflect on the franchise. You can add Anderson, Kopech, Rodon, Colas, and im Sure others I am forgetting to the list of guys where we have heard bad things about their attitude. This is basically constant, the list of guys we hear nothing bad about is shorter.

I thought the report was that Madrigal was annoying about religion. Not that he had a "bad attitude"

And Chris Getz made him annoying. He also makes bread go moldy. I guess Chris Getz must be doing a great job, now, if we have to make up BS to blame him for. LOL.

Failing to deal with a person proselytizing during business hours in the real world is literally an HR violation.

Had there been only one case of this, it’s probably fine. The story we have now is of a team that ripped itself apart and hated each other all the way to a loss record. That’s on the players themselves,  but also Tony LaRussa and Pedro Grifol, Hahn for not realizing the mess he was creating with his acquisitions, and the development staff for never working to turn these guys into adults as well as not helping Hahn recognize that there was a brewing problem. I’m afraid yeah, your hero is on that list.

Dude, you said that "basically everyone" that comes out of the minor league system has attitude problems. Now you're tapdancing. You named four guys, one who is immature (Anderson), one a head case (Kopech), I have no idea how Rodon is a clubhouse cancer, and Colas. That seems far short of "basically everyone", but hey, keep going. This is getting funnier.

So the Sox might end up with a pitcher who might be better than Crochet, since it seems very possible that Thorpe might end up better than Cease? And then also end with a few other of the team's top 10 prospects.

I state this again: People keep talking like the Sox lost the Cease trade, and that is not anywhere near a fact, and I think it's going to turn out that they won it. But either way, we'll see; it's not yet determined.
