soxrwhite
Robert out of the lineup again. So boys what is it? Injury or likely Trade?
GreenSox
Of course the Phillies et al are interested in Taylor: they think they can get this top-of-the rotation talent for the price of a reliever. Trading him for Crawford (much less Robert and him for Crawford) under-values him. The Sox may see him as a reliever, but he certainly shouldn't price him as one. That would be clowning. You don't trade them away just to get rid of Robert when they have 4 other relievers to trade away. Yeah that's how I see it too, cause yesterday Venable said he was available. IMO among realistic targets, NYM would be a better fit than PHI. Just get me Gilbert plus a 12-18 prospect like fathom said earlier.
fathom
So if they get Vientos for Robert, I assume infield set up becomes Vargas 1B, Chase 2B, Colson SS, Vientos 3B

Personally, I think Vientos is a great fit for us. Would prefer one of their non Benge OF prospects.

Chicago White Sox
Ugh… not feeling this Bob nugget: Quote The Chicago White Sox want third baseman Mark Vientos from the New York Mets in any deal for Luis Robert Jr., who has a .983 OPS in 11 July games. Squirmin' for Yermin
Vientos for 2 months of injury prone, terrible season Robert, seems like a really good outcome. Despite being another DH/1B, it seems kinda like a no brainer

How do you fit him and Vargas into lineup everyday over the next 4+ seasons? Especially with the Sox seemingly giving up on Vargas at 3B. They feel like extremely similar players. I don't consider Noda or Elko to be viable major leaguers, at this point.

His success last year was driven by a 92 percentile barrel rate, which has fallen off a cliff. Can he get back to that elite level? To me, his 2024 season feels like a total outlier. Maybe there is some underlying issue that can be corrected, but I am not excited about acquiring a project 1B / DH type who has four years of control left and will further limit our flexibility in the infield.

And has like 4 years of control. I’d much prefer a LHH OF with some flaws like Clifford
