Curious

While most of us are really done with JR, I'm wondering how many are expecting a dramatic improvement in the franchise. 

I'm thinking another 125 years of the same stuff but now with new, modern, packaging. 

 

I don't really see how it couldn't get better.  Ishbia's were not scared to spend $ on the Suns.  JR is stuck in the 80s.  

Not saying the results on the field will necessarily change, but I think the ownership strategies most certainly will. 

The White Sox have gone through some weird phases during the last 50 years or so , but this is the weirdest. There is no way to know how long JR will run the team. Additionally, as he ages, eventually he will not be able to make sane decisions. The teams is nowhere near winning, and even those who buy into this so-called rebuild have no idea when the team will become a real contender. And if the Sox do find some success, how long will it last?

The Sox have no identity and no relevance. And when there is a change of ownership, that doesn't mean things will improve in a significant manner. There is a story about a man without a country. We are fans without a team.

Jerry Reinsdorf bought the White Sox in 1981. 

The first time they ever made the playoffs in consecutive years was 2020-2021. 

During his ownership run, they are 3419-3495, wonderfully below average. 

Since 2023, they are 106-233.

In the last decade, they are 670-862.

In the last 20 years, they are 1487-1666.

.......

So to answer that question, my response would be dramatic improvements. You really don't need to put much effort in to get those dramatic improvements. Jerry has done a fantastic job at setting the bar incredibly low. 

 

When JR bought the team he signed free agents Fisk and Luzinski which made the fan base happy. I would think new owmers would go the same route and sign some free agents.

Considering a 41 game improvement would be .500, I feel like dramatic is the only way to go 

Moderate to dramatic improvements. Why does Reinsdorf insist on holding on to the team when an entire city wants him to CELL!

Not everyone ages the same. Some live into their 100's and are just fine making sane decisions. Jerry...hasn't really been making sane decisions for a while now though. It's not because of his age, I don't think, I think it's because of his pride.

The bar is so low. 4 postseason appearances (2020 excluded) since the 3 division format began 30 years ago, so 8 trips to the LDS in 30 years, to make it even in the current format, would have to be considered dramatic improvement. 

That said, it's about process more than results. The Mets don't have a ton to show for in the Cohen era, but they have reasons to be excited. 

Indicators of 'success' beyond W/L I'm hoping to see from new ownership:

1) New Ballpark

2) Top 10 payroll regularly

3) Major player in FA

4) Vastly improved minor league development 

I just wanna be excited again, damnit! 

Sox fans want change. Sox fans need change. We've been held hostage by Jerry's whimsical ownership decisions for far too long. I honestly can't wait for the day an owner like Ishiba takes over. The White Sox are a sleeping giant, IMO.

Who knows, but can it get worse? JR isn't going to lead this team out of the abyss.. The one thing most would get out of it, at least initially, is hope.

I said moderate because it makes no sense to expect dramatic improvement.

Twins fan were probably thinking the same way .

There's potential for dramatic improvement.

There's also potential for disaster.

This is kind of where I am too.  

Maybe an ownership change will lead to spending with the MLB club on FA while they stock pile prospects to build up the minor league system by tanking last year, this year, and maybe next year.  I don't know.......it's only hoping.

I'm told the state legislature is meeting next month to decide on how much funding they're going to provide to a new stadium.  It's not going to be enough so that's when the s%*# should really hit the fan.

Can’t wait for threats of moving to Nashville while they try to win 40 games in front of 8k.

the ONLY thing that could go worse is if they leave the Chicago metro area.  Everything else is already at levels about as low as it can go.

I voted for moderate improvement, but even moderate improvement will seem significant.

32 see improvement.

3 see no change.

2 see disimprovement.

Yeah, this should be telling to anyone who is trying to sell tickets to a Sox game right now.

The good thing is the present doesn't last long but the future we want takes time.
