Lol isn’t that the definition of personal?

I actually laughed audibly at this, and I don’t really know why.

  • I'm just going to go ahead and declare that we won the Vaughn trade now.

  • Not a fan of Civale, however, it's him or Clevinger, so I love the trade. If Elko is not the answer, and his pedigree does make that unlikely, the Sox have a ton of options starting with moving Vargas

About the same amount of fans who bought tickets to see The Tim Elko Experience.

The Tim Elko Experience sounds like quite a tribute band.

I actually do kinda want him to be bad. I also just think soxtalk's belief that playing baseball players in different positions around the diamond destroys them offensively just makes no sense. Gordon Beckham just wasn't good enough offensively. Great defensive 3b though..

Now that is a band that everyone would pay to see.

Although I wish him well as I would take no pleasure seeing him fail, he was partially at 'fault' for the fact that the Sox were a losing team by underperforming consistently. Yes the organisation around him stunk and his development wasn't helped by the way he was bounced around positions etc but the bottom line is his bat didn't produce.

Yeah he finally got a lot of at bats. Hopefully the change of pace will help him. I think Burger is still in the bigs for somebody.

I disagree with you. For instance Soxtalk freaks about making sure players are "ready" before they come up to the bigs. It's a non sequitir. So Vaughn is deemed "ready" yet when he comes up he has to play a different position than he's been trained at all that time in the minors? It nullifies the being ready argument cause he's certainly not ready to play outfield when he's not played it in the minors. But these guys are expected to just move from a comfy 1b or DH to outfield? It's stupid IMO.

The Dodgers have people playing all over the field at times and have for a long time. It hasn't impacted their production at all.  Now if a guy gets injured because he's playing a position he is completely incompetent at - fine.  But I don't think playing 2B instead of SS is going to be such a big deal that an otherwise great hitter ends up being bad.  Not a chance.  If they were that weak - they would fail anyway in baseball - its a hard sport.

In concept, no it isn't an awful thing.  But here are a couple of qualifiers for my sanity

-Start doing this in the minors:  Let them make mistakes and have as much of a learning curve at levels where the games mean nothing (I will accept the argument that Sox games currently mean nothing, but hopefully someday they will again mean something)

-Don't play guys absurdly out of position.  If a dude struggles to play a decent LF, don't put him in CF.  If a guy can barely move and has no arm at 1B, don't make him an OF, even in the corners.

-Identify guys for this early in their minor league careers if possible.  A guy like Brooks Baldwin is a great example.  If he is good enough to play 1 spot in the future, cool, but in the mean time, play him around the 5 or 6 positions he might be able to help at in the future, and help him learn the mentality so that when he hits the majors, it is old hat.

-at the MiLB level, I would also like to see them play a guy in one spot for a solid period of time, before moving on the next spot at the early levels to get them comfortable in specific spots and then start to juggle them more, as you would see in the MLB levels, at the higher MiLB levels.

And it is either  38 seconds long, or 12 minutes.  No in between.

He likely won't be much better than he was with the Sox.  You can't blame someone's poor performance only on the fact that he played for a bad team.

He could get hot for the Brewers .He always seemed to have at least one very hot month in the season.

In his career June was by far his best month with an .820 OPS . Next was August .745 OPS.

Last year he had a .933 OPS in June. Sept/Oct .813

2023 may have been his most consistent year. June .811 OPS ,2 months above .750 and 2 months above .700 but below .750 .

2022 April/ March .933 OPS , June .800, August .810 .

2021 July .863 OPS with 4 other months between between .700 - .750 and he tanked in Sept/Oct to .251 OPS. He was probably pooped. Lots of games in LF and he had never played a season that long before. Not even close . 94 games in LF, 15 RF , 23 1st Base , 6 DH.

Also Sheets is still on an MLB roster and doing ok. But the feeling remains that if they were still at the White Sox nothing would have changed and they would still be below average. Sometimes a change of scenary is best for all concerned.

How many of you are making the trip up to Milwaukee today to see him?

Does being in Madison count? The town is going wild for AV’s debut

Good for him.

I'm one of the people who does buy into his underlying contact metrics and stuff, so I hope the change of scenery helps.

I mean, if he doesn't hit that pitch out he has a lot of problems.

I don't care what Vaughn does in Milwaukee, he couldn't get it done here.

Just as I didn't care what Kopech did after being traded last year and won’t care when Robert is dealt.

Do they use aluminum bats in the National League??
