Buehrle>Wood
Congrats to him. Probably would have gone with Houser but theres something to be said about being here all year.
Quin
Colson Montgomery robbed. But hell yeah Smith, good story.
WestEddy
I'm fine with it. I also dislike the "it's stupid every team gets an All-Star" arguments. It's an exhibition to grow interest. As a kid, I'd watch just to see Wilbur Wood throw his one inning and catch a shot of Steve Swisher sitting in the bullpen. That's the point of the game. Exposure. 2
Lip Man 1
Someone had to be named I guess. He didn't look like an All-Star today and hasn't for the last few weeks.
WestEddy
Maybe Aaron Boone puts the ball in his hand for a batter, says something profound, and it re-energizes him for the rest of his career.

He could blow up by inning 60 or whatever Shane is at. Smith is probably “the most deserving” simply because he started the season with the team. why is kershaw the first “legend pick”? What the f*** is that? Did Pujols or miggy get one of those? Which deserving player was passed over?

Cabrera did get the nod I guess despite being bad. Pretty dumb if you ask me. If the fans wanted to see these guys, they'd vote for them. NBA fans vote for bad players they want to see play. That's just democracy, only you have unlimited votes. 1 hour ago, southsider2k5 said: The point of a legend pick is that it doesn't take up a regular roster spot. that's good, but I don't think he should pitch over somebody who actually deserves it. I agree with your point to give Smith a break, however, I bet he'd really like to get out there.

They decided none of our everyday players are hitting well enuf to not have embarrassing stats for an all star game. Beni's BA is too low. Tauchman is up to .280 but not an all star. Most don't have enuf at bats. I'd have pulled a Bill Veeck and named Abreu, Jose to give him a proper sendoff from the game. Let him have one at bat as a Bill Veeck type stunt. Frankly the team doesn't have a player on the active roster who deserves it yet.

tray
I would rather see the WSox trade Shane Smith than Houser. If a team shows interest in trading for Houser, offer Smith instead.

Kyyle23
Ah yes, if someone calls asking for Houser, just jingle your keys in their face for a minute until they are distracted then offer smith

So if another team calls looking to trade for a guy who looks reborn, pitching the best he has in his career, and can be a factor in getting to the playoffs, offer them the guy who looks like he's ramping down for the year?

Well you see, if Shane Smith continues to develop and blossom into a perennial All-Star, that builds excitement for a team and could lead to a new stadium at the 78th. Houser will be gone, thus no new stadium.
