Adrian Houser traded to TB for former top prospect Curtis Mead

Yeah, if you’re trading for him you’re not looking for him to be an ace. You probably plug him into the back half of the rotation and hope he keeps it up.

If they can get what they got for Slater, that's a pretty big win for Getz overall.

Yep, I agree. I think he's a #4 type starter and maybe he can go higher based on how that team's rotation finishes the season. Lots of variables, but he's depth for any team acquiring him now.

It's got to be more than that. #22 prospect in a weak system. Houser cannot be worth less than Slater.

I was just kidding because of his first name. I’m not going to be excited just because they make a trade

Houser really has to be like "what they hell does a guy have to do to get traded"

He has been really good but no market??

I guess Getzy will just get what he can this afternoon

I think Houser should have legitimate value.

1. He has a long track of competent pitching in the major leagues. Career 4.00 ERA. It's not like he's never been able to get people out before and suddenly figured it out.

2. The underlying metrics for Houser this season look rock solid even if not on the Cy Young level that his ERA suggests. His FIP is 3.29, xERA is 3.96.

3. The improvement in results relative to his recent past is explainable by an uptick in his stuff. Most obvious is that he's gained 2 mph on his fastball. His changeup and slider also have significantly different shapes than before. He's a different pitcher than 2024 rather than just 2024 + luck.

I certainly hope so, because getting something nice for pulling him off the scrap heap would be a huge win.

I think its concerning that report that said the Red Sox would prefer Civale over Houser. Like, what?

There was a report I think a couple days ago suggesting the Cubs were interested.

Could we get Wiggins?

Not Wigigns, I keep thinking Long for Houser would be a great get.  I think he’s the fallback if they don’t get one of the big names.

Im shocked theres not even a rumor about Houser out there. 2 hours to go

I'd like to think for the teams who are unable to get Alcantara, Cabrera, Joe Ryan, Gore - Houser would be a fall back so it makes sense why there are no rumors yet. He feels like a prime last minute candidate

Seriously, how does he get almost no interest? At the very least, you can view him as a middle of the rotation/back-end starter that's having a really good season with little to no financial commitment.
