Maybe better return than it could have been.  Not sure where this guy would slot in the Sox system, but maybe not as high as 18th as he is in the Yankees'.

not sure.  per MLB ranking, he was the second highest 40FV player with the NYY.  Bergolla is our first 40FV at #13.  Pallette is 14 for comparison.

Yankees fans are not happy.  Not so much about who was sent to the Sox but about Slater.

They are trading for spare parts. Maybe McMahon is better than that description, but no major impact moves for them yet.

What a terrible trade by the Yankees. Thanks. We need every youngish arm possible for guys like Slater. This is a trade the White Sox would make out of desperation nice to be on the other side.

On the flip side, when your in the race you can afford to send your 18th best prospect to a garbage team to get a platoon guy that could help you win a World Series.

I’m not sure the Yankees viewed him that highly. He didn’t make top 45 preseason for fangraphs and Law didn’t have him in top 20.  With that said, perfectly adequate return for Getz.

If I was a Yankees fan I wouldn't think twice about this trade. As a White Sox fan, it's possible that I only think about it perhaps one more time (when the pitcher we acquired is released from the organization). Of course, hopefully we see something more out of it, but this has all the makings of a nothingburger for both sides. Still makes sense for both sides.

The Yankees are all of 2 games better than the Sox since May 30th. They are not in any world a 1 WAR platoon guy away from even winning the division. Cashman and Boone are both on the hottest of NYC summer seats.

I love this trade for the Yankees.  If they make the WC, what if they end up facing a team that starts a LHP?

Sounds like they will platoon Slater with Dominguez in LF.  Dominguez hasn’t hit lefties at all this season.

I think some of this is also that I’m guessing Judge isn’t playing a lot of outfield the rest of this year with the elbow so they want depth and don’t want to call up Jones yet.

It could help them and they have financial resources the Sox do not but trading away back end top 20 org types can be a drain on the system done enough. I'm glad the Sox found a buyer.

Most people wanted Getz to sign the other Austin in the offseason, and they were right.

Imagine if we had signed a flip candidate who was more than a platoon player and could have gotten something better?  Nah, it's the complainers fault.

I think I was the only one suggesting the Sox trade Robert and then sign Bader last winter. Would have been a win/win/win. Robert had more trade value, bader costs less $ than Robert this season, Bader has been the more productive player.

Slater's savant numbers are really good. But while he hit the crap out of the ball a lot, I felt like he had some shitty luck hitting it right to people or flying out to the warning track in center. Even with that, he's a really good platoon bat.
