  • The Padres are basically a somewhat successful version of what Kenny and Rick wanted for the Sox.

Didn't you just say this wasn't an impressive return?

  • Love or hate Preller, he sure makes the trade deadline fun.

That is absolutely insane for a relief pitcher (even if really good and with control) and a flat out bad starting pitcher.

He’s been a bit better on the road, as everyone pitches better away from Sacramento.

Relievers, even ones with filthy stuff  have high year to year variance. If we've been offered a Top 30 overall bat for Taylor you have to take it.

Preller is nuts.

Now I see why trading Grant Taylor if there is a market like this for bullpen arm isn't that crazy.

National league are going for it right now. Just waiting for the Dodgers to join the party.

I'm very jealous of that Padres farm system....every year they have guys valuable enough to trade and somehow they just keep restocking to do it all again next season.

Who says no?

To CWS: Josue De Paula, Kendall George

To LAD: Grant Taylor

I would of traded Taylor for their stud SS

Not enough.

Taking a huge huge huge risk Miller holds up as a starter.

Sears under arb control next three years.

Michael King coming back soon leaves rotation of Pivetta, King, Darvish, Kolek, Bergert, Vasquez…Sears/Musgrove/Miller next year.

King Arraez FA’s…will trade Cease and Suarez for an outfielder.

Still have an issue at SS long-term created by dealing de Vries.

DePaula might not be traded for Schultz or Hagen Smith right now

They’re a bottom 3-5 system without de Vries.

But they can trade Suarez and/or Cease for a real LFer and get Sheets out of that spot.

It's all based on Miller holding up as a starter for 4-5 innings per game.

See Garrett Crochet gamble.

So he isn't going to get moved then.

Kwan's not well suited for Petco...and those three arbitration years will come at a relatively high price.

Will go to a team like Phillies or Rodgers instead if they deal him or can hold for value to increase based on hot final two months.

It would take someone like dePaula.

Mets don't have the prospects.

Phillies focused more on CF...but they still match up better than NYM.

Nice deal. Prospects are so overrated by market and fans these days it's insane.

What the actual hell is going on this year? Relievers are not this valuable.

Sure most are but a top 5 consensus industry wide guy!? Seems like there is a massive seller's market with 2nd wildcard and other factors.

They think he can start later. It's a very big gamble.

I dont buy much consensus noise knowing what I know about how teams value guys. The odds that the kid is in the top 5 of 50% of teams individual values is less than 50/50.

I remember when no top 100 prospects were traded at the deadline last year, and people said it was the end of top prospects being traded

that lasted all of 1 off season

I mean this conflicts with your FGs trade value posts! For all we know teams feed disinformation as much as their honest thoughts to the industry and media.
