Why do teams need more money if it's already decided years before? If a 12 year old kid develops way beyond where everyone thought he'd be at 16, he might just decide he wants more money.

Actually, the trades that give them the pool money normally occur after most have actually signed.  It does  appear since Marco Paddy is now the reason the international signings suck, that it took Chris Getz, whose job was to develop these guys, so you would think he would know, 2 extra years to figure it out.

I would think he would know what? Have the Sox traded international money space since Getz has been GM? Sounds like whatever you think he should have figured out, he did right away.

That the guy was a problem. There is no reason the team should be hamstrung by Marco Paddy until 2028 is James is correct. Another Getz blunder.

I think it's been thoroughly discussed here that JR probably wouldn't approve until his contract ran out. Weird that it's taken you this long to understand that. Another Dick Allen blunder.

There would be ways around it even if he was around. But keep in mind, on this board, people were praising the hiring of Paddy, kind of like your worship of Getz, who does nothing wrong, as he represented change, and that change was going to be good. Turns out it wasn’t.

I only worship the part of Chris Getz that will smite down my enemies.

Seriously, this is boring. Every single exchange doesn't have to be s%*#-posting.

Everything is different this time, you just have to shut up and accept it.

As we know, the Mets are looking for starting pitching and maybe an outfielder.

Mets have work to do: Here’s how they’ll approach the rest of the offseason - The Athletic

Quote

Who might the Mets move?

The Mets are open to moving infielders Ronny Mauricio, Luisangel Acuña and Mark Vientos, league sources said.

Those three players look redundant on the Mets’ roster. New York appears willing to give Brett Baty every chance to stick at third base after a solid defensive season and .748 OPS added up to a 2.3 fWAR. After adding Semien and Polanco to the infield mix, at second base and first base, respectively, there’s only so much time to go around.

The Mets have engaged with other teams about Jeff McNeil, David Peterson and Kodai Senga, but they are not moving those players just for the sake of moving them — the return matters quite a bit, league sources said. Clearly, nothing has lined up to the Mets’ liking yet. In the cases of Senga and Peterson, especially, they are not exactly locks to get traded.

Mauricio and Acuña seem like utility guys. Not super interested there. Vientos maybe? He's 26 and could be a nice 2-3 WAR guy at first (he's bad defensively at 3rd). I think Vientos was also available during the season if the Sox wanted him, which they apparently didn't.

If Vientos is the best you're going to get I'd probably hang onto Robert and see what he does during the season though. I'm not much for making trades for limited value, which these three guys are IMO
