Out of curiosity, which teams are an actual threat for Murakami?  Of the high spending teams, maybe the Red Sox?  Most of the other ones are already locked in at 1B.  Maybe there is a second tier team that is desperate for a 1B upgrade, but the market for a big name 1B addition looks soft right now.  Again, it very much reminds of the situation when we got Abrue.

I could see the Mariners still be in and try him at 3B for as long as they want to try him. Then he can end up in a 1B/DH mix with Naylor eventually. That team still needs more hitting.

Red Sox have reported interest in both Murakami and Okamoto, but are also trying to sort out the Bregman thing. Plus they might be in on Arenado and/or out on Mayer depending on how various dominos fall.

I imagine there's some pressure on them to do something soon, given they and the Rockies are alone in not making any FA moves yet.

I don’t think Boston is getting Bregman. Sounds like a mystery team is in the lead from the NL.

Why trade Marte to add Bergman?

I guess to add long term pieces and open up a spot for one of your top young players. Plus, there were rumblings he wasn’t that great in the clubhouse.

Bregman also won’t cost a draft pick.

I will take 450 strikeouts and 70 homers from him and Colson

He might end up being a disaster, but the power potential is insane with Murakami and proven power hitters aren’t going to come cheap.  Also, Getz has added a ton of high OBP players to the org that would slot in nicely around him & Colson.

Murakami would quadruple or quintuple the Sox media coverage...adding on the fawning Japanese press corps who already has their Chicago contingent due to the presence of Seiya and Imanaga on the Northside.

Might as well add Okamoto or Imai too, lol.

So you think we sign Murakami now?

Nope...but it is really quiet on him considering less than ten days to go now.

Seattle was the choice before Naylor. Would have to DH there. Suarez didn't make much of an impression.

SFG are always a possibility, but they already have Eskridge.

Padres might go after Okamoto, but Murakami out of their price range.

LAD blocked by Muncy Freeman Ohtani.

Did the White Sox even contact Okamoto's agency/representation?

You have ruled every team but the White Sox…it has to be them at this point right?  We didn’t hire our first ever scout to sign fucking Kay.

And Foster Griffin's also off the board, too.

Who still needs a 1B/DH?

Or can afford for him to set an errors record at 3B?  Which would put even more pressure on his offense...
