White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026

Featured Replies

I’ll always go with the player who’s almost 3 years younger. I think once Emerson gets stronger the hit and power will be plus. I worry about Roch hitting plus velocity and his lack of athleticism. I’m being picky here-lol. I still will be happy with picking Roch though. I’m just a bigger fan of Emerson and his ceiling.

Thinking that Roch Cholowsky is maxed out is fucking insane considering what the Sox have done with some hitters of late.

Cause they still have his draft rights.

Well.....last December, when this thread started, I said I was hoping for Emerson. Today, that is still the case, but we shall see.

As we approach draft day, I think a fun question is will the player we pick be our #1 prospect instantly, or will someone else internally still hold that spot?

If you had to bet right now, who retires with more career WAR? Roch or Bonemer?

Think Kiley is the only one who put out where 2026 Draft picks would rank on their current top 100 list. Roch, Emerson, Lackey, and Flora are the only ones cracking the top 100 for him. Rankings below.

Roch - #19

Emerson - #24

Lackey - #25

Flora - #49

Ultimately comes down to where a publication ranks Bonemer. I imagine most outlets will have Roch/Emerson/Lackey slightly ahead of Bonemer.

It was more of a personal question than a prognosticator one.

This nicely encapsulates most of the pro-Emerson stuff I've been reading (though most are not willing to state it so clearly.)

I assume Roch because of defense.

Booming Bonemer!

FWIW, Collazo at BA said he’d have Roch in the top 10 and pushing for top 5 and Emerson top 15 to 20. I’d assume that would be Roch above Bonemer at minimum.

Hands down yes. Any of the 3 in there immediately become our top prospect. Schultz would have been close had we not seen his control issues / knee issues pop back (which are clearly related). With everyone else graduating and Hagen falling down too, Bonenmer doesn't quite get there and BMont is strong but maybe not quite there (or maybe he has also graduated, not sure).

Couldn't they just have offered him a minimum, he'd reject, then they'd get the 10th in the next year's draft in addition to their own?
