I'm close with a bunch of Tigers fans IRL, they are all disgusted at the Illitch kid's running of the finances. Does it really matter if they are disgusted with it now or in the offseason when they let him go for just a QO? They are going to be mad reggardless.

Well it's the difference in probably being projected at 90 wins and 85 so yea, you're taking the playoff odds preseason down from like 85% to 60% or so. It's not just letting him go, it would be basically punting a contention year and in video games that works fine, but nobody ever does it IRL to any success.

Take a hit today to own the AL Central in the future. The Tigers are situated to win now, nothing baller about trading today away for the future imo in that scenario.

As Stacey King tells us, if you're scared, get a dog.

Do the smart thing and rake another org and set yourself to win for the next five years. Hell, they probably still win the division, and there are plenty of other arms they can still sign.

And both of those options likely would have been picked up considering what good closers cost these days. That would be the same as Seranthony money for 2027 and 2028. 2026: $6 million 2027: $10M club option ($2M buyout) 2028: $10M club option ($2M buyout) Edited February 6Feb 6 by WhiteSox2023
February 6Feb 6 The Tiger’s payroll is up to $215 million, more than double the limit for the Sox. They have a larger revenue stream, and bigger attendance. And yet, they have a Competitive B pick they cannot lose. The current system is complete BS and seems designed to largely screw one team: The Sox. The frickin’ Cardinals get bonus picks for crying out loud. I hope to God it changes in the next CBA so that every team operates under the same rules.

I have a really hard time viewing the Jerry Reinsdorf owned White Sox as victims. The system most designed to screw the Sox is the one JR operates.
