Monday at 02:18 PM4 days And now Robert has been taken out of the starting lineup. So yes, the trade return hasn't worked out...but neither has La Pantera on a team with TONS of protection.

Unfortunately, AI has also caused the prices for memory and storage to blow the F up to ridiculous prices like all computer hardware was during Covid.I recently ordered a NAS to set up with my younger son as a fun project and to use it for file/media storage, iPhone backups, etc., but then I found out the current cost of large 12 TB spinning hard drives. And I needed to buy 4 x 12 TB HDD’s. Brutal. Even the used prices are obscene. The NAS unit itself was less than the price of two 12 TB hard drives. Bad timing to build a NAS.Built a small RAID 1 two 12 TB drive NAS a few years ago when prices weren't stupid. One of the best things I've built. Starting to run out of space, though. Monday at 04:57 PM4 days One of the biggest scouting whiffs I've ever seen. Given his comments on him switch hitting is it possible he really had no idea who he aquired?baseballsavant.comLuisangel Acuña Stats: Statcast, Visuals & Advanced Metrics(2026) Avg Exit Velocity: 88.1, Hard Hit %: 37.3, wOBA: .210, xwOBA: .269, Barrel %: 3.4.5th percentile in range with 98th percentile speed is crazy.
Tuesday at 07:06 PM3 days Well, Acuna's being dinged not for true lack of range, just for not making as many plays as the statistical model expects. His non-catches have been on plays that were rated as pretty easy. Somewhat interestingly, he's caught every non-routine ball hit his way so far (but he hasn't had many challenging opportunities). I expect with a little development and larger sample size, he'll end up at least average by these metrics. If his batting outcomes meet his expected ones, you at least have a useful little bench player thanks to the baserunning and positional versatility.

The guy only has 600ish professional innings in the outfield compared to ~5000 in the infield. There's gonna be a learning curve. He's looked a little lost out there compared to his infield play. And the sample size is so small...Robert is 42nd percentile this season when he was 93rd last year, 98th in 2023. Fuckin Luis Arraez of all players is 99th percentile range after being 4th last season, 1st the season prior. Nobody believes he suddenly learned how to play defense at age 29.

Most guys that get switched there you can tell within a couple weeks if it's going to work. I give him another month or so, but tonight he's starting at SS and Montgomery is DH. Puke.

Puke.It doesn’t look like Acuna can hit at all, which I think the Mets realized. Getz also saved $20 million from the trade but if you could look at some of the players he signed this past offseason, it still doesn’t look great. Kay, Hays, and McGuire cost around $20 million combined. Kay is terrible, McGuire was already cut, and while Hays is good and I wanted him last season, he gets injured as much as Robert.

Puke.If he can play shortstop, and he's fast and has a good arm, I bet he can figure out center field. Wouldn't be the first guy. He has been quite bad, but he is just 24. Not that Vargas is necessarily an all-star, but when he was 24 and traded to the Sox, he posted a .387 OPS and racked up -1.0 WAR in 42 games. Now he looks like a competent third baseman and on pace for 30 home runs. His improvement has been incremental I'd give him more than a month, it's not like there's necessarily a rush. I'd like it if we won a bunch of games this year, but it still feels like a year to see what kind of players we have. If he ends up being totally useless, maybe you sign a guy like Varsho next season to play CF. I think Acuña still shows some promising underlying metrics on both sides of the ball, it'd be a shame to DFA him and let some guy with little upside like Peters or Hill play the spot every day.Off topic, but speaking of Vargas, our man has a .798 OPS with a .197 BABIP. It's likely he doesn't hit 30 dingers, but you also might expect the BABIP to even out to, like, .260.

Yesterday at 01:58 PM1 day At least a back injury is something new for him. I thought for sure he'd blow a hamstring. It's too bad. He has (had) tons of potential and has looked amazing at times, but he just can't stay healthy.
Yesterday at 02:32 PM1 day Dang, that sucks for Robert. Was really hoping he’d have a healthy and productive season on a winning team.
