If you DFA'd everyone since the beginning of the season that just 1 fan said DFA him or send him down, there'd be half the team gone and the whole front office narrative of fire everyone. You run into the mods who will tell your that you're complaining about the complainers , follow your own advice, gaslighting or don't tell me how to fan.I know, i know. It's the overreacts on a 4-0 game that ended up 8-0. It's 162 game marathon! The alternative was the last 2 years. I'm just happy to have somewhat competent play.

I know I feel that creeping in sometimes. Their offense is solid though, so whenever the pitching is decent they have a good chance to win. Just need to limit the games where they give up 6+.

If the Sox find themselves in the thick of a wild card or divisional race, why would they cut a league average LHH bat for nothing? If they had a complete masher sitting at AAA looking for some PAs, maybe. When Mune comes off the IL, maybe if Double Live Gonzo's raking, Gonz stays, and somebody else has to go. But for most of this season, all the talk of DFAing Acuña, Peters, Beni, Hill, Quero, or whomever is just navel-gazing, as there isn't anybody right there to replace him who would be substantially better.

Imagine what the RBI totals would be for the actual good players on the team if we hadn't spent 24 games with Benintendi batting somewhere in the 1-5 spot. When he's anywhere between 1-5 and in the lineups, coming into today, he's about a .230 hitter with with 3 walks and 31 K's and 3 HR's. That's someone who doesn't get on base, and doesn't drive in runs. Again, its baffling to me that they keep putting him in those spots and yet he's there almost 50% of his appearances.Im done throwing cold water on this thread, we all know he's not good. Sox won and shut out the Twins, turn your attention to that.On any given day, your defensive lineup looks like:c - Quero/Romo1B - Gonzo2B - MeidrothSS - Colson3B - VargasLF - Ant-manCF - PetersRF - Grichuk/NishidaDH - BeniRight now, that's only 3 hitters who are clearly better than Benintendi on any given day. (Colson, Vargas, and either Ant or Droth, depending on the handedness of the pitcher). Maybe Tristan Peters could be in there, but all he gives you is OBP.

And were talking right now, id still rather see Quero and Gonzalez than him. Probably Hill too. To be completely fair, the only person that is clearly worse than Benintendi is Acuna.

Still negative WAR for the year.

On any given day, one of those guys is worse than Benintendi. Okay, if a lefty's on the mound, Grichuk has better numbers. So, again, depending on the other team's pitcher, you have 4-5 better hitters in the lineup. I'd not bat Peters 1-4, as I don't think he has a refined-enough approach to hit high up in the lineup. I would sit Beni against lefties. But if a right-handed pitcher's on the mound, I think Beni's got to be one of the first 4 hitters in the lineup.

13 hours ago13 hr Might just be me, but it seems like if you’re going to be a full-time DH, you should be one of the best hitters on the team. Like, top 2.

I'm actually glad that people show up to the game threads and there's a winners thread now too. There are still those that treat the Sox like the ugly step child and will never think of the 3 100+ loss season as a rebuild. To me they sound exactly like those Cubs fans who hate the Sox.I mean as far as rebuilds go it's progressing pretty well for having an owner who may never again approach a $125M player payroll unless they get 2M+ fans and even then I'm not sure if that goes very far now or even will influence his spending. He's basically a lame duck owner trying to pave the way for his sons to sell the team after he passes on. The less debts his sons have the happier JR is and that's how he's operating the Sox now.
12 hours ago12 hr If this was posted already, I apologize. During the telecast Schriff mentioned that Joe Ryan said the White Sox are the team to beat in the AL Central.Respect!!!!
11 hours ago11 hr In 4-5 weeks, we could add Godzilla, Teel and BMont to that lineup. Tell me how many teams could put as many dangerous hitters on the field? Face it everyone. White Sox are for realat the plate and in the field. Oh, just as a teaser. Adams and Hagen dominated last night. McDougalhas been cleared to start his return, and Shane Smith might not be done for the season. :)

It almost too late in the season for that. If they lose 90 which could be possible at least we watch games to their completion. Losing 90 is possible due to injuries. I say this only because look at where some of last year's postseason teams are at. Stuff happens.

10 hours ago10 hr 2 minutes ago, kitekrazy said:but he really hasn't hurt the teamThat's my point. As constructed today, I don't see anybody at AAA outside of Braden M. who would push Beni off this team. Maybe Mune or Pereira creates the squeeze where they have to decide between Beni and Gonzo. If Gonzo is hitting, I think that's what does it.
