Can someone explain to me why the Sox continue to treat INT money as disposable? This specific trade probably isn’t a huge deal at all, but wouldn’t using that money on a lottery ticket teenager be better than a couple AAA lifers?

I always thought he looked like Tony Phillips looked in the video where he was on the tigers and our starter (Wayne Edward’s?) hit Ken Kaiser in the mask on the first pitch of the game. Kaiser then called a ball before the second pitch was out of the pitcher’s hand, and the close up of Phillips with his eyes bugging out of his head is hilarious.

Acuna can’t hit though…maybe that changes or is changing, but so far if he makes a start anywhere he’s a negative value guy. He is a good pinch runner and that’s got some value with these stupid extra inning rules, but he’s got to make major progress with the bat (and soon) to warrant rostering IMO.

Gonzo probably goes back down when Mune is ready. Otherwise they would have to DFA Beni. Doubt JR would be into that.

Hays may not be back for a long time, so it could be moot, but it’s either DFA Acuna or DFA Hays cuz Grichuk is not going anywhere.

Romo has two options left I believe.

It’s for the existing signing period so probably not much left, although unclear why the Phillies would want it then.

Don't know this account, but the "swing change" part is really interesting. If the Sox can turn into a team that can maximize value in trades by targeting players who need a tweak, and then actually make it impactful, that could be HUGE.

Periera makes sense in order to provide a platoon in CF or (L)F for more RH oomph against LH starters. Romo goes when Teel comes up in a few weeks. Gonzo back down when Mune comes up unless Getz finds a trade partner for Bennintendi.

He flashed 80th percentile or better bat speed, HH%, barrel%, max EV, wOBA, and ISO in AFL, paired with an 18.7% walk rate. Seems like the type of profile they like as a starting point to try and unlock.

He's been playing a little better and with Colson's back a bit iffy he's gotta stay for now as I don't think they trust Gonzo or Chase at SS, and I think that's smart. Acuna has been solid in the field at SS and that has some value for a backup.
