Sonny Gray is definitely off the table.

Someone like SFG’s Mahle…although Toronto could put Bieber and Scherzer out there if things go south if they’re looking for bigger names.

Ofc going from SFG to GRF might not lead to the most desirable results.

Need sinkerball/splitter guys.

Sox wouldn't have to hold or pay him in a possible shutdown in 2027.

If there's a lockout, nobody's getting paid.

All we need is pitching, right?

However, I've said it before and will say it again. We've had so many pleasant surprises or pleasant performances from guys in the everyday lineup aren't we set there? Even Peters is hitterish. The two Montgomerys are a delight and my faves like Antonini and Meidroth and Vargas are dandy. Our catchers named Teel can hit (bring up Quero please and send the other guy down). Even Beni is hitterish and you wait, he'll be one of our postseason heroes when we beat the Yanquis. Muni is such a great find. He is legit star.

This may seem outlandish but I don't even think we need pitching. Not in this day and age. Trading for a starter? Dumb cause they only go 5 1/3 anyway. Just keep getting the most out of this staff and continue to develop our young studs.

It's amazing how legit the Sox have become (cue the Vargas blast in all star game). I don't want to derail this thread but I even love Getz now. He's proven he has a clue. That sweep of the A's was nice and makes me think I should purchase mlb and start learning more about this ballclub which lost me during the tank. Peace out.

Nobody knows now what an agreement before and/or after a shutdown would look like.

Okay, you got me there. Generally, the owners have granted some service time. I'm pretty sure that if baseball players aren't playing baseball games, they're not being paid $200k a game afterwards.

Nobody wants the clubhouse cancer Soto and the 600 or so million left on his deal. One of the greatest hitters of his generation, but a bum in the field and a clubhouse downer unlike Manny and Miggy and Papi, the other 150+ wrc+ type bat only types to come before him. If you're that good of player, being a s%*# leader is a huge drawback, as the org will play favorites and mets fans complain about it.

Mets are one of the worst run FOs in pro sports, honestly the White Sox might be better given the resources available the last 30 years.

Lindor is available too? That would be a shocker…

Soto didn’t help the Padres THAT much and cost them Wood Abrams Gore. Very similar to Devers in many respects in terms of a positive/negative clubhouse presence.

Everyone has noted how happy/together the Sox team is…look no further than Boston moving away from Marcelo Mayer and going with the always smiling and optimistic underdog story Anthony Seigler (their Antonacci) at second base.

Brewers might have made a mistake there, but already had Turang and preferred to add David Hamilton at third for Durbin.

During the 94/95 labor impasse players weren't paid but it was negotiated as part of the final settlement that they would be credited with service time for the games missed. That's how the Sox lost Alex Fernandez. The organization didn't think he'd be a free agent for another year but with the service time given for the games missed he qualified went to Florida and helped them win a World series.

Career 4.69 ERA, 4.39 on the season, 4.55 in his last 10 starts, but because he's 27 with two arb years left (and had 3 great starts in June) I've seen packages like Schultz/Hagen + Carlson + Bergolla thrown out there for him. That's an enthusiastic no from me.

Detmers feels like left handed Javy Vazquez. Great peripherals, but always ends up giving up too many runs.

Add Acuna to your pleasant surprise list. Splits, last 28 days, .400/.533/.933 with a +glove.

Still, -0.3 fWAR isn’t exactly easy to accomplish for any middle of the field player.

Would happen to have his fWAR for the last 28 days?

Só where are you projecting him to finish the season?

Taking more and more time from Antonacci against LHP or perhaps Meidroth?

Then Vargas/Mune takes Benintendi DH at bats away, right, with Colson at 3B?

Or CF at bats from Peters?

What about Grichuk?

The Sox valued Acuna as a UT over Jacob Gonzaez. I project Acuna to stay in UT/ pinch runner role for the rest of the season.

The White Sox, playing in a mediocre division and league, figure to be the most serious buyers in this group. In need of both starting and relief help, they are willing to be relatively aggressive on players under club control, but are not inclined to overpay for rentals, according to a person briefed on their plans.

I was thinking Erick Fedde's breakout season, but yeah, something doesn't pass the smell test.

Fedde had bad-to-middling stuff and Detmers has very very good stuff. So they're not at all similar to me.
