Both of those guys should be very cheap. Singer has pitched better recently and his stats are weighed down heavily by a bad stretch he had in May after he got hit by a line drive. I'm not sure why we'd need another right handed outfielder since we've probably got 1 too many when everyone gets healthy.

Seranthony is a drag on the pitching staff and a sunken cost. Maybe his roster spot could be filled by Tanner McDougal or another guy from the Minors. I know JR, like any front office Chair, does not like the team paying millions to players who fail to perform, but oh well Jerry, Dominguez needs to go. If they get second half Shane Smith from last year, they don’t need Singer or Detmers. Personally, I love Detmers, but not at the cost of two really high first rounders.

There’s nothing wrong with the content itself - just seemed like it was written by a kid in middle school. Abruptly ended with just a single sentence. Seemed like it could have been developed more.

Also, I’m just in a pitiful mood as of late and am hyper critical of just about everything right now. So don’t mind me. 😆

One wonders how that sub-headline made it past an editor. That's too many points. What other points are there to reach? Point D? Point Z? Pointbreak? Point-and-shoot? Pointillism? I don't think the Sun Times employs editors anymore though.

I think it's a bad offer, but people here are really sleeping on detmers. He was rushed as a 21 year old to the league. Didn't get a chance to learn to pitch professionally. He threw 62 minor league innings. Has very fun stuff, and looks like he's found some pitchability over the last season (2nd half last year, 1st half this). My only concern with Detmers is it's a lot of fly balls.

I'm definitely a fan though.

I'd trade hagen smith 3 times for detmers. Detmers for 2 1/2 years is way better than bullpen Hagen. Detmers today is like the 98 percentile outcome for Hagen.

I don't mind Detmers and I think there's definitely a lot of upside to him if he ever harnesses all of his stuff to be a more effective pitcher. But the proposed trades out there all rate him like he's an established near elite pitcher with 2.5 years of control left, which he is definitely not.

Cease was a better pitcher with a better track record when the Sox traded him with 2 years of control left. And even he only got 1 top 100 prospect and a couple of guys near the bottom of the Padres' top 10 at the time.

Just to clarify the writer has nothing to do with headlines, that's the editors and page paginators.

And the point A to B to C is the play on JR's comments when he fired Larry Himes as G.M. in September 1990 for those that don't know. That was what he said to the media.

I don't really want to trade for Deitmers or anybody of significance unless the trade is clearly an underpay from our perspective. The team is still growing and young. I don't have expectations of a World Series this year. The team got good by developing young players.

The other item is having additional years of control, is nice. However, what are they going to be valued at given what next year could be, which is probably a shortened season?

I would probably do Carlson and Quero for Deitmers as my high package. My thought process is we have a significant amount of middle infielders in Meridoth, Antonocci, Montgomery, Cholowosky, Thome, and Prosek. I would imagine two of that combination hold it down for the next 10-12 years.

They could like Quero and feel like he is fixable. However, I would not trade any young pitching as this is something we are lacking.

Hard to get an underpay in a clear seller's market....unless it's taking over a bad contract and holding onto prospects.

Will JR/Boyer authorize payroll bikes...based on increased/projected revenues?

Would love to see the Sox get both Lugo and Wacha from the Royals.
Plug them both into the rotation. Fedde goes to the bullpen, Schultz goes back to Charlotte.
