This seems like a good idea. Honestly, I would probably dump Hays because you know he’s just going to get injured again.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Five days or less until Detmers is a White Sox. Just a prediction, but I am very confident it happens. Soxtalk won’t be a fun place afterwards if it does…lol.

anyone telegraphed this long is unlikely to happen, imo.

I think Hagan Smith is the starting point for Detmers, I wouldn't give up Bonemer or Carlson for him.

If you gave up say Hagan, Lodise, and Gabe Davis (I personally think that is a little light) for Detmers, and Mason Adams, Landon Hodge, and Mongollon for Singer and Stevenson, that would be great with me. Add in Hays for a mid inning reliever.

I wouldn't even blink at this.

At this point I have extreme doubts that Smith is a starter.

Start by trading Reinsdorf for an average street vendor

I know. It's out there, tho. Here's another:

It makes a lot of sense if either of them have enough value to get there. It could even be a dump for a nothing MiLB player to get the roster spot open.

Now we are talking overpay.

I don’t trust this Travis Hudson guy… simply because of his profile picture.

Grichuk being healthy and productive this year (and making league minimum) would make him much more attractive to teams. But also, I would probably want to keep him over Hays.

I'd be very surprised. Asking price sounds astronomical.

It could be if he goes for less than people think he’ll go for

My official prediction is Carlson, Quero, & Adams and I think most people will hate that.

If this was the price for Detmers, I think he'd be here already.

Well that is awful decision making by the White Sox if they are willing to give up a high upside prospect like Carlson for a pitcher like Detmers. It is paying a premium for cost control vs. eliteness and that is not a trade off this organization should ever make. If you want to move Carlson in a package for Miller - I don't love it, but I get behind the fact you are getting an elite cost controlled player, but at a less premium position. That is an acceptable trade off.

I noticed this is the minor league thread. Very weird they used him in this capacity when we are desperate for SP and have already punted on Hagen & McDougal being used in those roles.

It’s really hard for me to see Hagen succeed in the bullpen when his biggest problem is putting it over the plate.

We have a new Foodies invasion. Instead of food it’s just stock photo normie guys

Detmers is pretty damn good.

I would bet money that package is better than what he goes for.

You need to start posting only legit insiders, like Bartolo’s bungholio.

Really? Wow. I already thought pitchers were going to be outrageously expensive but even I’m surprised by that.

Do you think he will go for more or less than this package?

Hagen Smith, Kyle Lodise, Colby Shelton

Will require more than that.

1 hour ago, nrockway said:

A lot less. Lodise or Bergolla or someone of that tier (who is not underperforming and undervalued, ie Oppor) should be the headliner. Bergolla and Mogollon seem like nice pieces to me but have a difficult path to the MLB roster and don't clearly show star upside the way that Carlson or Smith do (and Bonemer obviously but he's going no where).

A guy whose upside is 'mid rotation starter' but has shown over 6 MLB seasons to be a 5th starter/swingman type is not returning a top 50 prospect and more.

Dude…this is nowhere close to reality. Detmers is a former top 50 prospect who finally figured things out under Mike Maddux and who currently has the peripherals of a high end SP. His value with 2 1/3 years of control is going to be very high. People pay for expected go-forward performance and not past.

Meanwhile, Lodise isn’t even an org top 20 guy for me and Bergolla is semi interesting due to age & hit tool, but lacks ceiling and is also currently injured again. They are nothing but secondary pieces in a trade for Detmers. Fine if you don’t like the player or price, but let’s avoid creating false realities here.

I agree that’s almost always the case…I just think no team is in need of a controllable SP more than us and Getz push hard to land one.
