Apparently Brewers are in on Skubal. That would be a wicked top two in the rotation

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Quero's heroics last night aside, the Sox probably really need to grab a catcher. Stephenson seems to be one we'd like to see the Sox target, and he would immediately become the starting catcher, with Romo most likely to be sent packing. A few other names I saw who could be traded were Goodman, Hicks, Heim, Pages, and Herrera. Goodman and Hicks seem like they'd be pricey but have pretty big upsides. The others are likely upgrades over Romo.

Pitching has to be the number one priority, but catcher is probably a close second.

If Gonzalez was still around, you could make the Montgomery trade for pitching, and survived 2026 with Gonzalez and his bat until Roch and Bonemer arrive

We're still trying to trade that guy that put up 5 WAR and 12 OAA in his first 162 games at the toughest position in the sport? 🙄

It's the more fun alternative to him ending up a Dodger

For sure, it’s a good team getting much better but it’s not because they simply buy everyone

Makes so much sense for them, this is their chance to really go for it this year, and they have a ton of prospect capital to get it done without killing the system.

I don't know. Angels never trade guys and dudes like this with 2.5 years of control don't often move due to asking price.

I've heard they asked the Cubs for Hartshorn and Ben Brown.

Bonemer or Braden Montgomery plus

I don't doubt that is what they are asking for and that they may not trade them.

However, the curtis mead deal did nothing to sway me from the opinion that positional prospects, esp young, are still carrying a heavy premium over pitching. A fledgling former top prospect whose burned his pre-option years gets hot (not trying to dismiss him, but it is a small sample size), is probably 1B/DH only long term, and commands a second-year starting pitcher with 4 more years of control who has succeeded over 1.5 years.

I will be surprised if position players much better than Billy Carlson headline a deal, and while I'm not sure Quero would really be that interesting to the Angels, I think Carlson/Adams is going to be the type of package a pitcher with control will get.

Now some 2/3 top 40 pitching prospects will go and people will say 'yuuuuge haul'

....with such a move likely hurting the Cubs being the added bonus.

So many teams need a catcher, if you don't get stevenson for a reasonable price I have a hard time being convinced so many of those dudes will be worth the price and that our catchers won't revert higher. They've been so bad but Quero esp I can see stabilizing and giving us more than many on the list.

Not TRYING. But he will be the first up for a new contract, and Roch is going to play SS in Chicago, and Bonemer backs up Vargas. That’s just reality. And he has a lot of value. If you’re looking for pitching, that would be a very feasible way to get that done without weakening the long term operation
