So which rental SP are left?

Still think we are shooting for Stephenson and Holmes. The Yankmes are likely in the way with Stephenson and who knows who were up against with Holmes.

Seems like there may be some new SP options opening up as well as some teams are deciding to sell.

We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Hmm Detmers went for less than Soriano. Ayers isn't top 100, but is having a really good year.

That guy has gone off like a bomb in a couple of my family group chats in recent months lol

Why do I feel like they’re going to massively overpay for Stephenson and Singer? Something like Thorpe, Wolkow and Pereira.

I don't know if Hill has "found something" in PHI. He's striking out 41% of the time and has a .424 BABIP and his expected numbers are worse than they were with the Sox. Not really something to lose sleep over.

Fair enough. He still would be filling in CF with the Sox and would remove the need to trade for Doyle, but fair point.

I said what???

You said we shouldn’t focus too much on results over the past two seasons. My point is when we considering additions at the trade deadline, you should lean in heavier on recent performance because you have two months to right the ship and get production out of said player.

I think they need to Fathom.

Unless he is writing a check for half a billion to him, that would be a genuinely terrible idea.

I'd rather move Hays and Grichuk than Pereira.

My point was not to focus too much on recent performance or past performance, i.e. they both count. A lot of the secret sauce in this business is figuring out when the very recent past is lying to you and when it's not.

Them walking into the post season with Romo and Quero would be unacceptable. I don't think they will.

I disagree with you insisting this is some sort of massive risk that they cannot recover from

I think relaying on a guy who has put up wRC+’s of 50 to 60 the past two years to be your short side platoon CF during a playoff push is a fairly risky. Not sure how that’s really a contentious opinion, but to each their own.

Those type of guys have no value at the deadline

Yeah, your trade partners don't want those guys either though.

Tampa has guys to trade now

Same. If I'm choosing between two guys who are always hurt I'm picking the younger one, and Grichuk is lost at the plate since his hot streak. He looks done and I don't think they can afford to carry him any longer.

I mean I’d expect PTBNL or cash considerations for those guys

I keep forgetting we have 4 hours of this s%*# left still

We don’t even know if he is coming to Chicago. He could go to Charlotte.

Ehhh, seems like Getz wants no part of trading anybody in their top 10
