Sox @ Tigers 6/21 - 12:40PM

Featured Replies

Got to get some offense back. Could have easily won the first game and this one, if not all three. Tigers playing for their season at home and Sox were not up to the task.

Oh well, hopefully some home cooking solves this and they can get a couple games on Cleveland.

That series was tragic.

This team overcomes the toughest 2 weeks of the whole year only to get swept by Detroit right after it. That's rough. Let's see how well they can maintain the vibes through some adversity.

Injuries have decimated the lineup. Montgomery and Vargas couldn’t have been worse this series as well.

Dominguez has no business closing games. He can't throw strikes, and have no idea where the ball is going.

You cannot have this dude closing games if you want to be any kind of a contender.

Meidroth deserves some MVP votes for the Tigers this weekend

Glad the sox had acuna at short to lose the game.

To the naked eye, his splitter is his best pitch. Didn’t throw one that whole inning.

Luckily Cleveland had a bad series against the Astros, and I'm not all that concerned about Tigers getting back into it. They didn't look very good. Had BABIP luck and a Sox offense that is finally starting to show cracks without two of the main guys.

Peoples might be part of the solution in the long run but I think you're wasting your mental energy if you're thinking there would be many different win-loss outcomes if he was on the Sox.

their road record is no longer a small sample size. Something is really off outside of Rate Field. Blame Venable

Getz said they needed a closer and clearly targeted Dominguez....he was way wrong on that pickup. And we get him for 2027 too.

they were due to suck at baseball, not fun to watch but it is their turn, hopefully it's not the disaster the North Side went thru

let the knee jerk reactions begin

Montgomery at SS vs Acuna and the game is long over...

Bad luck on Peters' double jumping over the wall as well.

At least they can't trade Skubal now.

And kind of crazy they're just one game behind the Guardians at this point.

They also really need to patch that bullpen somehow.

And Eisert either. A lead is never safe when Seranthony is coming in to close.

They’re pulling out Zapruder Film replays to excuse Acuna :)

Splitter is nasty (are there any bad splitters?) but he usually has serious issues commanding it and it's not a great option to righties for the most part IMO. That said he did throw one to Lee on an 0-1 count I think it was. Don't remember seeing it again though.

Also it constantly forces him back into the zone and then he gets hit around.

please god, i hope i see a thread tomorrow where the title says Romo and Quero sent down, Teel and Turner called up

Moving around players has not paid off.

i'm not panicking yet. I'm annoyed though.

If they lose the next series to Cleveland its time to reevaluate expectations.

Ugly game. Ugly series. Unfortunately not their first let down road trip after a big homestand.

Hope Teel can spark something if he's back tomorrow.

Win 5 against the Guards over this next stretch and all is forgiven.

I will be shocked if it’s not Teel and Quero

One thing with Seranthony is I've primarily thought of his issues this season as being about command. And maybe that is all it is. But I'm surprised to see that the whiff rate on his sweeper has been cut in half year over year. That's been his bread and butter pitch that is basically unhittable. It's not getting bombed or anything but it's not the reliable whiff machine it was in the past. I'm not really sure why either because the pitch's shape and speed is basically identical relative to last year — it's got plus-plus break.

Back down to Earth

A few weeks ago, Eisert’s FB topped out at a tepid 91-92.  Today it was 88.  Get serious please!
